02 SS750 Appearance Build

So, I got my new handlebars in the mail today. They are 8" Ape Hanger Z Bars from Road 6 Customz. I did a mock-up to see how they looked with my stock Spirit risers, and as expected, looked hideous for my taste. So I am in the process of looking for stock ACE or VLX risers to shorten the height as well as the angle (been looking for almost a week now, no luck). I already have the extended cables to get the job done, so I WILL be posting pictures of the full process.

Also, taking my paint guy Saturday to get the paint for my tank and fenders. I have a scheme in my mind on how it will look. (Black cherry Pearl base coat, candyapple red with a marble overlay on top with a charcoal/solid gray tribal pinstriping to separate the two colors outlined in red. Both coats will have a medium metal flake in it. I am planning on running the rest of the gas out of the bike this weekend and starting to take the tank and fenders off to prep for paint during next week, so the project should be done and back together within the next couple weeks.

Here are a couple pictures of the bars, please tell me your thoughts on risers.....

Looks good man. Same bars I was thinkin about buying. You still needed extended cables with the 8" rise? What about with shorter risers?

Well, I'm not sure about that, exactly. I didn't check on the reach from the stock cables yet because I wasn't sure which risers I would use. I figured I would get them just in case. If not, I will have cables for sale, haha! Always better safe than sorry!

Nice! What do you think about the quality of the bars? I am eyeballing their 14" for my ACE. Sounds like your paint job should be sick.

Quality of the bars are a lot better than I had expected. The welds are clean, bars are very strong. These weigh 8 pounds. powdercoat is flawless. clamp knurls are cut in very nicely and hold in the clamps solid. They also have a slit on the bottom of the bars so you can do internal wiring, and they also come with bar end caps. I would give them an A.

It's not, NC. During the mock-up yesterday, I tried the risers both ways. Brought back were too uncomfortable and close to my body. Also looked horrible (as shown in picture) Facing forward were real comfortable, but made the bars way too high for my liking. The solution would be ACE risers. That will make it perfect. I held them about where they would be with ACE risers, and they will be where I need them to be. I can't wait to get these things put on!!!!

While the tank and fenders are in the paint shop, I am thinking about turning my stock seat into a solo. I have been wanting to do it for a while now, might as well be the time!
