So decided to work on it tonight (sorry no pics..) took off the clutch slave cylinder, then disconnected all hoses and vents and whatnot, next up disconnected the electrical leads for something forget what now.. next step was electrical leads for oil pressure and neutral safety switch..
Took off the left side case cover without issue, did my business in there..
oh! alternator connector! that's what it was.. that was my first "what the fuck was wrong with the PO?!?" tonight...
Book says you should find the wires under the seat by the connection block, disconnect the white, 3-wire connector. All three wires are yellow in all years.
After searching for a few minutes, I finally find the 3 yellow wires they are talking about.. but there's no connector because this asshole decided to cut it off and replace it with heat shrink tubed butt splices!!
So I wrapped on wire in grey duct tape, one wire in red duct tape, and left the other unwrapped, then cut them, leaving half the tape on either end so I make sure I reconnect the right ones later..
Seriously, why would you do that? if you broke the connector, BUY ANOTHER ONE!
anyway, get up to the step of disconnecting the ignition/cam pulse connections, which are inside the right side case cover.. go to remove it and a couple of bolts are tight, so I spray em with liquid wrench and have a smoke while it works a little..
Get all of them free except one.. whoever worked on it last fucked this thing worse than the ones I messed up on the cooling tin.. At least the ones I stripped out, you can still see the five walls that the allen wrench should mate with..
This one is almost perfectly rounded
So I guess I gotta buy an extractor kit after all and replace a bolt.. won't be able to work on it now until after payday, since I just got paid, paid bills and now have about $30 to my name..
