and make it slower... Who wants that? Now that I've done the swap and kept the intake runners, I can pull off filters in about 5 minutes tops. Carbs out in 10-15 depending on the tank. You also wouldn't have to balance the carbs if you went to one.

just sayin...

ahhh make it slower!!!!

ahh mate im not sure about you but i didnt buy a vt 600 for performance or speed...its a 600cc cruiser it is also a perfect bike to bob or chop or do what he or she desires...I want to know if its possible to fit the later model (98-07) air intake manifold with single carb....to a 1997 vt 600 twin carb ( my bike)....and save all the hassle of how to neaten up the engine bay and and try to hide 2 little pod filters up under the tank....seems a little easier to find aftermarket filter systems for the single carb plus i like the look of filter sticking out the side

Surely one of you "crusty old know it all" hard core vlx wombats would know if this can be done....
Ps just getting some shit slinging in now before all your noobmotherbitchshitslinging kicks into gear....nuff said

Noober600- I have seen the custom 1-2 manifolds that people have fabbed, I believe black widow may have done one.. I dont know, do a search and fuck off

By the way, I really dig the look of the smaller filters on the dual carb, especially with a high mount tank that shows off frame and motor more. A manifold would look better than the airbox but not as clean and tight as small dual pods or stax

holy shit! nobodys eveeerrr thought of this!!!!!!
fuck i wish it was that easy.

the intake manifold on a single carb doesnt line up right on a dual carb, because the intake ports are offset on the dual carb motor.

however some people have made their own out of pvc, i just wasnt too sure about the idea and didnt want to have to buy another carb.

also you lose like 7 horse.

Well that fucks up that plan.....i didnt think it would be an easy swap out... and yeah i have seen blackwidows air intake mod..its well made and looks good..
I will have to stick with my twin carbs and throw on a couple o little pods or stacks...

I have a plan though....i will just have to cut 2 massive 3 inch holes all the way through my tank and weld 2 sections of 3 inch pipe through it top to bottom..side by side running parallel with the frame. Then make 2 offset stainless intakes from the carbs to the centre of the frame and centre of the tank....of these i will run 2 flared mesh stacks that only just finish above the height of the tank.....yeah i know its all bullshit till i post up some pics....but fuck it would look good...that is if you like the whole "Rat-roD" kinda look which i do..

haha sounds like an awful lot of work but if it could work out it would look totally badass.

or you could just make 2 seperate manifolds going out each side of the bike and run a triumph style throttle assembly with two pull cables one going to each carb! that shit would look pretty rowdy too.

yeah bro..i have been tempted to go down that path...but i hear its hard to mount the cable set up and get the vt carbs timing correct....you will just have to wait for some pics...or shorted video of the whole job.....fuck i got a lot of work ahead of me.
Just been pricing up paint today....mega flake and gold candy with satin black.....frame will remain stock black......
powder coated rims....aniodised hubs....pollised or rechromed spokes....
biltwell clip on bars.....you see where i am heading with this little 6 hundi..

just remember to not get in over your head. you sound like my buddy who tore down his only bike with delusions on grandeur and totally lost interest in it.

If I'm not mistaken, the dual carbs make more hp than the single ones do. That's a helluva lot of work to do to just to make your bike even slower and have a little air filter sticking out of the side of the bike. lol
