Anyone have opinions on using struts and having the Billski Mod. I ordered Wild Card Customs Ground Pounder Struts to put on my '05 ss750 and I have the Billski Tail light mod on. I'm concerned about clearance. Has anyone purchased these standard struts, I hear a bit over 9 but less than 10 in size, and Jaxon assures me he sold many in the past to others with Billski Mod, and they have no problems. Just looking for more information.

they should clear because there won't be any travel on them.

Chicagobikenut,
got your e-mail,.....
I ran the 10" struts with the billski with no problem. I had about 1/4" clearance between the plate and the back tire.
I wish I could still make bike parts but its not allowed.

I'm still confused on what is the point of getting struts? Is it to lower the ride or change the feel of the suspension?

the point is to lower the rear end so it doesnt look like a dirt bike anymore

Brian, if you still are having reservations about the strut length, ya might try making some mockup struts out of 1 x 2 lumber. Drill some 5/8" holes at the center to center length that you trying to make work and install them on the bike. Leave the bike suspend on the lift and spin the tire and check for clearances/ dragging. Wood is easy to work with and cheap. Obviously, don't attempt to ride with the wood struts - just had to say it :)....might be a way to verify before ya drop the $$ for the struts and then not fit. dunno, just a suggestion.............Mike

"Should clear"? You are much more knowledgable than I on this matter. Jaxon said he believes the struts measure 9 1/4 center to center. My stock shocks are 12 inches in distance center to center. I have about 2 1/2 inches of tire clearance with the plate with stock, and not sitting on the bike. So doing the math, how much room will be left, since with struts there is no travel?

you could also remove your shocks (use a jack of course) and lower the bike until your measurement is the same as your new struts. You will know then. Be aware of turns once you lower your ride....

According to my measurements, I need 9.75 struts, and they will barely clear the Billski/Plate. The struts at Wild Card Customs are going to be a bit short. Is there anyone that has the Billski Mod that has used WCC stuts? The damn plate on the B-Mod just hangs down a bit too low!

bikenut,
I am running 9" struts on my scoot with a sidemount. there is NO WAY that a billski light would fit. I have about 1/4" clearance between tire and fender and chooped off the taillight mount area of the subframe. So, 9 1/4" struts would give you about 1/2" between tire and fender. Don;t think the billski would fit. Just my 2 cents. Jaxon might just wanna make a sell at your expense:)

your measurements sound about right. 9.75" struts should work but not 9.25". later man

That's what I thought. Don't get me wrong, Jaxon is a good guy, but I kept telling him I didn't think it would fit, and he kept saying it would. 9 1/4, no way. I just hope I get all my money back. He never even shipped the things1 I did find some 10" struts at Son's of Thunder Metric Customs. I may go that route, but Holding off for now. Thanks everyone for the speedy input. Saved me some $$$$$.

Get this, I had a guy tell me that if struts are put on a bike built with shocks, that the frame was not deisned to be a hard tail and it could damage the frame. He even said it could crack. Is this true or is he smoking crack? He advised to get a hardtail conversion kit, but not to just go the strut route.

The hardtail kit is a great thing . It looks good and is a quality product . Many people on both TSW and here have been running struts for years and I have never heard of a cracked frame as a result . Who said that ?

Hmm... if you fall in to a crater the size of texas maybe it could... but I have it and no problems.. and here there are some nasty streets.

Struts or shocks doesn't matter because it was 100 degrees out here in Chicago suburbs today. My ass was on fire! Luckily there is a great bar in Ottawa with a topless bartender, and she helped cool me off! Hot Latino chick with a great rack and nicer ass!

We'll have to hook up there. It's the Silver Slipper Saloon. Very hot women, beer is $3.50 and they have a big screen to watch games. What's better than that, beer, boobs, and sports. It's a great place to stop when out riding! Let me know when you all are available and we can meet up there.

Sorry, I don't make it a habit to bring a camera to a bar. I'll get some pics next time. The girls there like to party when they are not working!
