:ukliam3:First, I am a newbie so go ahead and blast away with the welcomes. Thanks to the lovely and extremely sexy Lisa for guiding me over here and, well, everything else... lol!

I searched before asking this question and didn't see a direct answer so here goes... will the pipes from a Spirit fit an ACE?

What I'd like to do is take out the crappy stock can from the inside of my exhaust and put some other pipes inside the shield so it looks stock but has a nice low roar. I can't afford V&H or Cobras so I did the SA750 mod (drilling the baffles) and it's not loud enough for my taste yet.

Also does anyone know the size of the pipes right before they go into the combination can? Again, I want to make this sound good but don't want to destroy my factory look so I considered using straight pipes with slip in mufflers, hidden by the large shield.

I know I must sound crazy but I have to do things on a tight budget.

I'm not sure on the ACE mod, but I know on the SS what you are actually removing are the resonators, not the baffles. Some folks take a piece of sharpened rebar and punch a hole in the baffle (which is further inside the pipe). Hopefully someone will check in and confirm this for ya.

And FUCK OFF NOOB

Welcome aboard......seems like I remember reading that the ace pipes will fit a spirit IF you have installed after market forward controls......a lot of folks have done some sort of slip on mod to their pipes....I'm sure someone will jump and give ya the particulars on sizes, reducers, etc.

What most people do that are trying to accomplish what you want is remove the baffles from the inside of the can and leave the can itself. This just turns it into one big pipe frome the headers back rather then the exhaust actually being split like the original can does. It takes alot of work to hollow that thing out so be ready for some work.

Yeah I found that out tonight. lol! I cut the end of the tank off (the end cap inside) and tried to twist the pipes out like they showed on another website but they didn't budge. So I left it like that for now after trimming the two pipes back a little so you can't see them. It's actually quite a bit louder now and I think I can live with it where it's at. It definitely has a bigger bark when I get on it! I am going to adjust the carb mix but I don't think it's going to take much at all.

I didn't realize how easy it is to take these pipes off though. A total change with the proper new pipes (no bracket adjustments) should take about five minutes.
