I just went to Deal's Gap this past weekend for the first time and this will be a frequent destination for me now.
Anyone within riding distance is welcome to join, we have about 10 local riders planning to go and the tentative date is May 17th.
If you've never been, it is an awesome 11 mile stretch of road with 318 curves from start to finish. You can check it out at www.dealsgap.com (http://www.dealsgap.com)

Damn that sounds like fun, but that is the last weekend for bike week. I will do that ride one day though, sounds like a blast. You guys have fun, and BE CAREFUL! Don't let me see your shit on the tree of shame.

We are hoping to go at least once a month since its only about 1 1/2 hrs away from me. We have 5 or 6 at work that ride and it makes a great day trip.
The tree of shame was cool...i did notice that most of the parts were from the crotch rockets though. They way some of them were riding the day i went i wonder why they don't have a "forest of shame"
Some of the resort people there told me that there has not been an accident free weekend in a long time...
Let me know when you get a weekend freed up to go and maybe we can get some people together for a ride...

FYI - rumor mill has it that the Tennessee side of the Dragon will be putting in speed bumps in an effort to slow down riders.
Don't have any more details, just be aware...would hate to round one of those corners and encounter one. :freak:
If I hear of anything more concrete, will post. Have a riding buddy that's within an hour of the Dragon and is there most weekends.

WTF?? THAT would be really stupid of them. I think. The road is too smooth to be not enjoyed as one continuing winding road. Not to mention spilling your drink while on a goldwing.:pissed:

Agreed on the stupidity factor but TN Officials are referring to US 129 at an "illegal race track".
The Snake over near Johnson City, TN is to be patrolled more this year too.
A few seem to ruin things for us all...

I see why they are concerned....there were several crotch rockets and tuner cars that were pulling idiot moves and passing slower bikes in some very bad places.
The cops need to enforce the laws they have instead of creating a public safety hazard by doing something ignorant like speedbumps on that kind of road.
