I would like to get my rims powder coated . I was wondering what the cost would be [ ballpark ] and if it would involve a relace ?

My Magna rims were $275, and that's a mag wheel. They will need to be taken apart and relaced. I'm not sure if your powder guy can do spokes. The guy I used couldn't do it at the time. The ens of the spoke can't be coated because of the threads. I know some folks just go with the rim and hub and get new stainless spokes and nipples. When you start adding it up it's not really worth it.

Give Sumax ( www.sumax.com ) a call. They're the best in the business.

Has anybody done this and did it warp or mishape your rim? I talked to one powder coating business and they wouldn't do just a rim they wanted the wheel intact with spokes and hub, because of the heat involved in the process.

I can't see how you could do the rim intact. With all the spokes crisscrossing and the nipples at the rim and hooks at the hub. That's a lot of areas of flex when you're riding. I would think that eventually the PC would crack and start to flake off.
I've seen plenty of places that can do the rim alone. They only heat it to around 400 degrees.
Call some other places...

I would like to get my rims powder coated . I was wondering what the cost would be [ ballpark ] and if it would involve a relace ? Like the others said it will invovle relacing and to make it look good you would want new laces and nipples. I talk to a guy Here in OKlahoma city, Ok and he quoted me $60 a wheel. Broke down of course. You start spending money when you go to have it relaced. Lots time goes into it from what I hear.

I found a place here that will do it for 40 bucks a rim. They also say you don't need to relace.

So they can do it WITHOUT taking off the spokes?

They have to relace. You couldn't PC the rims with the spokes on. Go to the spirit world and shout out to Tony, amanarinno, aka cheesy, he does all the PC there, did my springs. He does great work and can tell you cost and what needs to be done. I have his email address too.

I don't know. That is what they told me. A friend of mine got his rims powder coated there, but he did the relace.

I had to take the chrome off my front rim ($35) to pc but I didn't take it apart. I got my front spoke rim, rear cbr rim, front lowers and my struts for $350:thumbsup: also I think if you add a color it will be more expensive

so, you did NOT take the spokes off the rim to get it coated? They did the entire wheel intact? I have always read that you coulnd't. Would be a lot easier if you could!

Me too, just threw 7 numbers out there. Forgot it was only 6. I don't play the lottery too often. I know we have 6/49 draw and a super7 draw, 6 numbers for the one, and 7 on the other.
