Hey....some of us like guns  We do ride to shooting ranges too...a single gun case will fit in my saddlebag.

Went to the range on Saturday and burned up all our ammo! We taught a co-worker of Bones how to shoot - he'd never been and wanted to try it in a safe environment so we edumacated him. He is going to take a safety course as well but his first experience was good.

Jrod: I bought Bonesy a .50 camo TC Triumph for V-Day and the matching camo Burris scope, camo mounting plate & rings for his b-day in March. That's our latest addition... If he likes it, I might get me one to carry for huntin'. And, we're thinking about going on a hunting trip to South Africa in a couple years. :cool3:

I'm partial to ParaOrdnance guns myself. I have the P16,14,13, and 12. The 12 is my favorite. Probably run more rounds through that one than all my other guns combined. Kimber makes a nice pistol too. So does Sig. And Browning. Heck there all good:lol:

We've rented Kimber, Sig, S&W, and a few others at the range - all are very nice guns. Usually we go in a pretty large group and everyone shares their toys

We've both been very pleased with the Para's (we actually have 2 P14's - mine is stainless, Bones' has the black coating on it). We did have to return one for repair - was handled very quickly, no questions asked. Great service from them.

Yeah, there aren't too many guns we don't like! :crazy3:

Smith & Wesson has an amazing customer service, and so does Para. Para does make a great 1911, but they are not my first choice. The doublestack feature is great for the range though. With the price of .45 ammo these days ive been shooting more 9mm than anything

I love my Kimber Custom TLE II. It's the best shooting gun I've ever owned. Everydaycarry for me is a Smith 642 airweight. Its light, small, and always goes bang. Sometimes I carry both. I work second shift in Durham, NC. Their just behind Detroit in murders.

Wal-Mart (around here) has the best deal on ammo...we can get 100 rounds of .45 ACP (230 grain) for $23.00

Bones (hubby) has looked into reloading and he can't do it that cheap. Plus we normally shoot around 400-500 rounds when we go to the range and doesn't want the hassle of reloading that many cartridges. :laugh4: He does reload our .357 & .44 Mag(s).

Yeah, doublestacks at the range are fun - plus we have 4 clips each. Drop a magazine, smack another one in, and bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.... :jamming:

Bringing back a dead thread here.

I'm looking at getting Mossberg 500/590 or a Remmington 870, both with a nice tactical setup from Knoxx. Which one would you guys recommend and would I get a better deal from somewhere like gunsamerica or at a local gun show? And is it still possible to find the sidewinder kit for these?

Wicked Wanda
12-02-2008, 09:41 AM
Saw quite a few Mossbergs and Remingtons at a gun show in Columbus (Ohio) over this past weekend....lots of selection to choose from - private & dealers. Depends on what you want to pay.

AR15 parts out the whazoo!!!! :laugh4:

Myself, I'm thinking about a Benelli .20 gauge semi-auto (M2) for deer w/a Burris scope or red dot

I mainly want it for home security, but will also use it for hunting. I can always buy a longer barrel for that though. I like the Mossbergs b/c there's so much you can do with them. Unfortunately it looks like they're near impossible to get right now. Every site I've been to is sold out of the ones I like.

both are very good choices shot both liked both. in 12 gauge i have a win. model 12, rem. 870,11-48, and sidexside, and one handmade in
Turkey for me (for shooting skeet). best all around is probably the 11-48 (and i just got it) but for the money and in a pump like your looking for i would go with the rem 870. parts seems to be a little more accesable. either one rem 870 or the mossberg 500 are very versitile and very user friendly you would be happy with either one. hell if you can't make up your mine just buy both.

Go for the Moss., you can buy it at Acadmey with a pistol grip. They don't display it, you have to ask for it. At least here in Texas...

I asked my brother for the worse piece of shit 870 he had and he gave me a box of parts. I sent that box of parts to Wilson Combat and in about four weeks I got back a completely rebuilt gun. The price was about $180 seven years ago. I see the price has gone up. If you can find a crap 870 for little or nothing this could be a good way to go. See this site for more information.

So I'm down to these 4 and can't decide. I know the 3rd one with two barrels is the better deal, but I just don't like that forend. I know you can change them out, but I've read that you can't with the new 500A's. If someone else knows otherwise please let me know b/c I'm really wanting a pistol grip forend and that would give me my hunting gun and my home defense gun. The ones with pistol grips will probably get changed to a side folding stock.

That 500sp Cruiser is nice feeling tool. I would suggest that it is out do the fact that the only thing you could hunt with it would be the not so rare 'North American Dumbfuck'. But in that regard it is nice and very secure with the forestock strap and the beefy muzzle break/battering ram.

Walther P22. You don't want one, it's a pain in the ass. I still plan to put a can on it, but it's a finicky motha when it comes to ammo.

Thanks for the info. My Glock 19 i like but the wife has taken it over. I've got a Llama Max-1 .45, and a HK USP .40 also. The HK fits me the best. It just feels good to hold...but a bitch to pay for.
