We took Susan's bike in for the 600 mile service today. The place we went is an all brands dealer, except Harley. That dealer is up the road a mile or so.
We were hanging in the parking lot bullshitting with some folks, then the bike was finished. I told Susan I would bring it around front and I would meet her there. She was walking ahead of me and as I rode past her she said nice bike to me. Some retard walking alongside her said "Yea, it is nice. At least you bought a real bike. A Harley."
Her head snapped around at him and she started laughing in his face and said "That's not a Harley, it's a Honda Spirit." She then did the ppppfffffttttttt sound and laughed at him some more and walked away.
He got in his truck and stayed there looking all pissed off waiting for his buddy.
WE WEREN'T EVEN AT A PLACE THAT SERVICES HARLEYS!!!! What a fucking idiot.

It's always funny to see their expression when they think it's something only to find out they are dead wrong.
I always wait for the "that's a honda" comment when you sit in the wings while people look at the bike.

If they can't even tell it's not a Harley they are not entitled to an opinion. It's kind of like the people that won't vote, but then complain about the government. They do it just to hear themselves talk.

Later in the day I got a compliment from some guy on a Harley fatboy. I couldn't believe that he even recognized a Magna. Most people don't know much about them. Not even Honda owners.
I came to the conclusion that he must have gotten smoked by one in the past and knows better than to mess with them now.

I have had a few of those . I raced an old shovel bagger after he rolled up next to me gave me the cool bike nod and said "nice bike" and then said " Wait is that a fucking Honda?" I blew him away . I stopped at the next light and he said " Wow that thing is fast . 1800 ? " I said " No 750 " the light changed and that was all he saw of me . I had parked in front of Walmart once and had started my bike [ Burbs] . An old guy walks up and says " Wow , thats a niiiice .......... Is that a Harly ? I say " no " and he throws his hands down in disgust and walks away . I had to gas/bark it a bit as I rode past him and his wife .

The last thing a guy likes is a good looking girl laughing at him when he was serious. Just seeing that happen would have made me start laughing at him my self.

You should have seen his face when I got off of it and she drove it away......

OH Man! that was the funniest thing ever! First, the fact that "I", a chick, knew what kind of bike it was, THEN realizing it was MY bike.
Oh, what a feeling! heeee heee heee. If you guys knew my voice, you would even understand even better! My tone was like "you stupid shit" while chuckling Then he was like...What is it?? and I chuckled louder and said It's a Honda Spirit!
I'm still laughing!

Yeah, I get that a lot, my Ace looks like a Harley, I get many compliments on her. Why are some folks surprised that a woman rides?http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/images/smilies/Mrs.%20AJ.gif

Where I live in the past two years there has been more and more women riders. I'd say close to 40% of the new riders here are women. It seems they are better riders. You see the young guys getting bikes or a new guy rider and it seems like they are out to prove something. Put a woman on a bike and it's like it was meant to be. Aside from looking hot, they are great riders.
My wife took part in a ride for cancer last weekend. I went with her to the meeting place and she participated in the ride. I think there were about 150 women riders that rode that day. There's a couple of pictures of us in the 2005 ride area. http://cruising-for-a-cause.ca/

it is a great cause to support, more and more everyone's lives are effected by some form of cancer. It will be great when there is a cure. The research that this is funding has developed a new form of treatment that doesn't include chemo or removal. The human trials are set to start this fall.
I'm really proud of Mrs. RJ, being a new rider and doing this by herself (none of her friends joined her for the ride) was a big step. She did great, nerves got to her on the way back into the parkinglot after the ride and she stalled a couple of times. But all in all, she's doing great for someone who couldn't even drive a standard last spring.
