Metzeler has approved the me880 200 for the spirit, aero, and vlx.It has been tested and proven safe.Saves alot of money not having to change rims. Here is the link

Sweet. It will work for the ACE as well. If you check out the parts the Spirit , Aero and ACE all use the same rear rim.

I see the guide shows fitment for 04-05, but will the 01 rim still work. I think there the same but just want to be sure. The 200mm tire looks sweet. Any pics of your bike. I am still trying to get my scanner to work.

you prolly will have to do some grinding, but not much. I had 9.5 on mine and had to do some grinding.

Yep it will fit the stock rim the vtx rim is a little wider so the tire will be a little wider on the vtx rim (19mm i think) but it will fit on the stock rim.

has anyone actually done this to a stock rim? Are there any pictures of the stock tire/rim combo compared to the Metzler tire on the rim.. just want to see if there is a size difference?

I can't say I've ever seen a picture of a stock tire and rim as well as a stock rim with a 200 metz mounted on it side by side.
I'm sure it'll look a lot bigger. The pictures of the 200 don't do it justice.

i'm very interested in seeing a side by side because your right pictures of this mod don't do it any justice.

I was curious if anyone had any links to these tires through a reputable dealer online? I am getting ready to purchase new tires for my 03' and was planning on going with the 170 Metzeler. I have done no mods to the bike so far but also am planning on lowering it as low as I can go. I don't do any 2 up riding on it really.

Would this tire be any taller then the factory tire? Im interested in a 200mm tire but also want a taller tire to reduce RPM's at interstate speeds.

yes the tire is taller also avon now makes a 200/70 R 15 that is what i used on my bike i think the tread pattern looks a little cooler than the metz

wow, this is an old thread

the 200 metz is approx 1 1/2" taller than the stock tire set up...and it will def lower your rpms
