Yesterday was a beautiful day in the 70's, so I went riding. Coming home, I pull up to a stop light and notice a 2 or 3 crotch rockets behind me.
One pulls up right next to me at the light, he nods and I nod back, no big deal. Light turns green and of course he takes off like a bat out of hell, the other two follow passing me to the left in my lane.
All of a sudden I have rockets passing me on the left and right, doing wheelies and riding close enough I could have reached out with my boot and knocked them off their bikes. All in all I would say there were 30 of them.
Reached the next light which had turned red, a few of them sped up and ran it. I slowed down, thankful they were gone and stopped. A guy waiting to cross the street looked toward them then back at me and said, "So you're the easy rider."
Part of me wished I'd gone ahead and knocked a few of them off, but I would have probably gotten the worst of it.

i used to ride rockets but never got crazy like the fuckers now days do.
i got a bunch o buddies who ride rockets. most of em love wheelies and riding 50-60 over the speed limit (and of course, need my help to adjust or replace their chain, tune their suspension, change oil, check plugs, diag the system, etc etc), but reckless as they can be w/ their own lives, they're pretty good about respecting others on the road.
i've def seen some dumbasses on rockets, but i've also seen a train of cruisers running red lights too. i'd say that there are smart riders and dumb riders, regardless of what they're riding.
i can't wait to buy myself a sport bike!

i agree with quam there are smart riders and dumb riders. i just believe that most of the dumb ones ride sport bikes and act like fuck sticks. they are the reason insurance rates are high and why most people don't respect bikes on the road. i do find it amusing watching them do wheelies at slow speed and rolling it too far back and eating shit that makes me laugh every time. Thats the old deep laugh and point and say you dumb fuck!!

Agree, Whenever I hear someone talking about a motorcycle accident, seems like they always have to mention that it was probably someone riding too fast or showboating on a crotch rocket. Doesn't give the rest of us much sympathy. Kind of like the guys that have to gun their loud pipes in a neighborhood at 11PM.
I have a few aquaintances that are serious rocket riders, every one of them complains about the punks that do the stupid stuff on the street. I know it's not all of them, but seems to be an awful lot. It's those few rotten million that ruin it for the other 12:heh_heh:
oh, can't argue w/ the stats. MOST idiot riders are def gonna be on sport bikes, but certainly not all.
it seems that the majority of crotch rocket guys tend to be the kinda dude that has $$$ to spend and wants to kinda be a show off, but doesn't really understand the spirit (no pun) of motorcycles.
i'm sorry, but a guy who's been riding for years, but still pays the stealer a hondo to change his oil for him is not a "real" biker. i can understand not being familiar w/ their bike when they first start riding (esp crotch rockets cuz they're fi and the sus setup is pretty extensive) but damn!

And I got to witness a good old rice rocket rider flipped over the bars this morning. The same ass munch passes me every morning on the way into work. He rides everyones ass and does the hug the center line lane changes (6 inches on either side of it).

Speaking of rockets and insurance my girlfriends brother has a 07 GSXR 1000 which he end overed last year and had no ins so he had to fix it himself. Now he wants insurance go figure. Well he is 20 and his cheapest quote was 5200 a year for full coverage. lol I thought my 277 a year was expensive for a cruiser.

i just believe that most of the dumb ones ride sport bikes and act like fuck sticks. they are the reason insurance rates are high and why most people don't respect bikes on the road. You sir are a idot. most of the true dumb ones are cruiser riders. more than anything its the cruiser rider who is between the ages of 35 to 55. who rides 1200cc and up. and why do I say that? because the studies that raise insurance prices deem that the motorcycle rider between those ages was in the most reported accidents in the last 5 years. 94% rockets as you call them are 1000cc and below. the study broke it down that the cruiser rider had the more fatalities, they blame the no helmets and skid lids. also the wide spread of riders who ride from bar to bar doesnt help.
the goldwingers/trikes had the less accidents with the sportbikes in the middle. also they say that the number of new riders who in younger years who couldn't afford there harleys of yester year are now buying the social icon and wreaking them daily.
when I get home I'll try to find the study

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU? Mr. fuckin statistics check your stats next time I ride in PENNSYLVANIA helmet law overturned a few years ago because there was NO significant proof that a helmet saved lives. I'M NOT saying they don't help. I personally think they DO!! I also where one. Most of the time when I hear about bike accidents its a FUCKIN ROCKET!! If the case were true that cruisers were the largest percentage of accidents insurance rates would be much higher than rockets. Hence sprots car versus family sedan. They are also based on value of the bike HD's cost 2 times as much as rockets why are they cheaper on insurance than said rocket. BTW just FUCK OFF!!!!!!!!! I don't give a fuck if you call me a noob

LMAO... I agree to some point. Cruisers = More Deaths than Rockets... I say bullshit. As far as the insurance rates... My brother, who was 16 last year purchased a 2001 1200 Sportster show bike, and his insurance was just a little higher than mine at around $200 a year FULL COVERAGE with pregressive. That would have EASILY doubled had he been a fucking idiot and wanted a peice of shit rocket. so MR noob if you are finished fucking your self off and you can read you might learn something.
the reason you hear more about them wreaking is because the news loves to prey on that type of bike. if you dont think cruisers dont wreak than you're sadly mistaken.
sorry but that is bullshit about the ins rates. some INS carriers go by engine size like State farm. and I can tell you first hand what a 03R6, 00R6 is alot less than than a spirit 750. and the reason the sports car is more to insure is because parts and prices are higher to replace. also another reason that insurance maybe higher is because how often there stolen. (theft report by progressive at end of post)
so sorry that you dis other types of bikes. you see I look at it two ways, I ride both and I work on both. you cruiser guys talk about the stunting squids which is usually young punks. not really riders at all.
but we laugh at your lack of gear, flip flops and bar hopping. In observing of my own I think most common cruiser rider cant hold a line thru a turn. panic at a little rain, rocks or dirt in the roadway. there ideal of riding is around town showing there chrome. they think washing there ride is more important than riding.
"rockets" are more superior in technology than classic cruiser machines. and I would say that less than 25% can actually can work on there own machines. the most important thing is enjoy what you ride and be safe.
But sorry, by your post count your still a fucking noob. even if you wasnt your could suck my nutsack anyway, you fucking cheese dick noobie :beatnik2:

Motorcycle Helmets
In 2003, fifty two percent of fatally injured motorcycle riders were unhelmeted.
Two-thirds of unhelmeted fatalities were in states without a universal helmet law.
NHTSA research shows that, in potentially fatal crashes, helmets have an overall effectiveness of 37 percent in preventing fatalities.
In 2002, helmets saved an estimated 1,005 lives.
At 100 percent use, an additional 579 lives could have been saved in 2002 alone.
Only 58 percent of motorcyclists were observed to be wearing helmets according to the 2002 National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS).
Rider Characteristics
The largest ten-year age group of rider fatalities is the 20 to 29 year olds.
However, 46 percent are age 40 or over, a group that has grown steadily from 21 percent in 1993.
Forty percent of fatally injured operators tested positive for alcohol, and 32 percent had a BAC of 0.08 or higher.
Alcohol use was highest among operators 40 to 49 years old, followed by those 30 to 39 years old.
Of operators 40 to 49 years old, 41 percent had a BAC of 0.08 or higher.
Of operators 30 to 39 years old, 39 percent had a BAC of 0.08 or higher.
Twenty-five percent of operators involved in fatal crashes had an invalid license.
Crash Characteristics
Almost half (about 46 percent) of fatal motorcycle crashes are single vehicle.
More fatalities occur on rural than urban roads, reversing a trend that existed from 1990 through 1997.
A majority of the crashes occur on undivided roadways (70 per*cent) and roadways with median and no barriers (20 percent).
Of fatal crashes that occur at night (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM) 58 percent involve alcohol compared to only 18 percent during the day.
Of weekend fatal crashes 45 percent are alcohol related compared with 32 percent of weekday crashes.
In single vehicle crashes, 52 per*cent are alcohol related compared with 28 percent of multi-vehicle crashes.
Larger motorcycles are figuring more prominently in fatal crashes. The percentage of fatally injured riders of motorcycles with engine displacements of 1,001 to 1,500 cc has risen from about 28 percent in 1993 to about 38 percent in 2002.
Mean engine size involved in a fatal crash has steadily increased from 820 cc in 1993 to 999 cc in 2002.
Two-thirds of the riders killed on 1,001-1,500 cc engine size were 40 and over years old.
Motorcycle Accident Facts and Statistics:
In 2004, 4,008 motorcyclists were killed in traffic crashes in America.
Motorcyclists were about 32 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in motor vehicle traffic crashes and six times more likely to be injured.
One out of every five motorcycle crashes result in head or neck injuries.
Motorcyclists represent one percent of traffic but account for 19 percent of motor vehicle deaths and serious injuries.
Most crashes happen on short trips (less than five miles long), just a few minutes after starting out.
Helmeted motorcyclists are three times more likely to survive head injuries than those not wearing helmets.
Helmets reduce the number and severity of head injuries by 50 percent.
Most motorcycle accidents occur at speeds slower than 30 mph.Motorcycle Theft Report

With the cruisers, you might see someone getting on the it, but more than likely there not going to be doing 60 mph wheelies down the interstate. Rockets, In my opinion, are geared towards 16-25 year olds, moe often than not, first time riders. The lack of experiance, good judgement, and in alot of cases, comman sense is the biggest factor in the rockets going down. Im not saying cruisers dont go down, I am just saying, in alot of cases, even if it is a first time rider on a cruiser, at 40 years old, they will have better judgement than a 18 year old kid on a rocket. Drive through any college campus, you will see 5 to 1 rockets over cruisers easy. BTW, That video is hilarious, I seen it a few days ago on youtube... That was pretty stupid... But there again, he wasnt doing wheelies or anything like that, He was getting on it and passing a car. Granted it was around a curb which was stupid to begin with, but had that video been a rocket, he would have flew by doing 80 and more than likely a wheelie, lol...

I personal know more sport bike riders that are over 30 year old than bellow. the average trackday rider is bettween 25-37.

OK dick head I did check, and smart ass it wasnt overturned because of any proof. it was overturned by 2 motorcycle associations, ya know power by the people
Sept 5 - 7 2003 (http://www.bikersrights.com/states/massachusetts/freedomride.html) - Freedom Ride from MA to PA to celebrate PA's Adult Freedom of Choice WIN and to promote awareness for Freedom of Choice for ALL riders in MA, CT, NY and NJ.
July 6, 2003 - HB 152 - Governor Ed Rendell signed Senate Bill 259, a bill to modify Pennsylvania's 35-year-old mandatory helmet law. The law will take effect in 60 days.
Motorcyclists in Pennsylvania who are 21 years of age or older with two years riding experience or who have successfully passed the Motorcycle Safety Program can to ride helmetless. Passengers that are 21 years of age or older may exercise their choice in the use of a helmet too.
Dec 9, 2002 - HB 152 - repeals its handlebar height law effective 2/7/03. HB 152 amends Vehicle Code § 3524, which required handlebars be no higher than shoulder height. The new law also adds that all bikes built after 1973 must have headlights on day and night
Pennsylvania motorcyclist rights advocates, led by ABATE of Pennsylvania, scored a major victory June 18 when the state Senate approved a bill that would repeal the state's mandatory motorcycle helmet law, reports the American Motorcyclist Association. Senate Bill 165, approved by a 27-22 vote, would allow motorcyclists to choose for themselves whether to wear a helmet as long as they are over the age of 20 and have more than two years of riding experience or have successfully completed a rider-education course

doesn't take wheelies or speed to kill ya. in todays paper a cruiser rider with out a lid smashed his self into a retaining wall at around 30mph. they said his head split like a mellon. RIP
bad day at the house and work, I'll argue with you guys latter.
