Anyone interested in an annul rally event for the folks on the site? Somewhere centrally located in the states so we can get as many people as we can.
I know that nothing will happen this summer, but maybe start batting around some ideas for next summer.

You and Glenn were a couple I had in mind for this. That's why I wanted to see where would be a good spot for the left coasters. That's why the members map was so helpful.

I don't know if there is a central place that we can meet up at. We are all in far parts of the United States.

The concept is a great idea, logistically speaking it would be difficult to pull off. I would love to be able to make it though. Making a commitment is another story, having to wait to find out about holidays through work, weather (trailer), etc.
I know I want to do the dragon one year in the near future and I'm hoping to tie that into some visits along the way, or perhaps meeting up with people when I get there. Of course as with everything with me, it's not written in stone.

I was thinking maybe near Truman Lake in Missouri, Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Oklahoma.
It's a big country, and it's all great. I was just thinking somewhere in the middle. That way noone feels slighted by having on the east coast or west coast, north, south..........
This is all just theory right now. We're all open to suggestions. C'mon people get some ideas together.

I'd like to do the dragon too. The Magna Riders Assn. does a east coast and west coast rally. Those who want to attend both do.
I tell you what, the road from our house is like a friggin roller coaster too bad it's only 4 miles long. We could have it at my house.... :wink_2:

I haven't posted the announcement yet, I was waiting until after Memorial Day to do it. This Labor Day weekend we will be having our 2nd Annual KY Rally. It runs from Friday night until Monday, all are welcome. I will post all the details after this weekend is over. It is held on our place north of LaGrange, Ky., plenty of room for camping or there are 4 hotels 4 miles away. Keep this in mind and watch for my post in Rides and Events.

Hey Gozz!
I guess I should say Howdy Neighbor!
I don't know which poker run you went on, but it wasn't the KY Rally. Actually the KY Rally started out as a meet and greet for folks on the Hondashadow.net site. We had couples ride in from York, Pa. and Knoxville, Tn., but the rest came from central and northern Ohio. It got it's name from a fellow from Louisville who came and shot some pics and then went home and downloaded them, titling them from the "KY Rally". Well, you can just imagine everyone's reaction, especially when some of the guys were posting about the sleeping arrangements. It was all in fun, but the quirky name stuck!
We had between a dozen and two dozen bikes last year, this year we expect more to make the trip. We have plenty of room for camping, whether it be tents or RV's and there are 4 motels less than 5 miles away in LaGrange.
Last year we rode during the day and partied at night. We rode between 400 and 500 miles over the two days. Everybody ate well and had plenty to drink, it was a good ol' time! I'm sure all that attended last year will be back again this year, so make your plans to attend now!
I will post a more detailed account of the Rally in Rides and Events before the end of the week.

I would vote for Oregon coast . I don't care much for big bugs or humidity . H101 with the beutiful Pacific ocean in plain view most of the time . 70 degrees with a slight breeze and plenty of restraunts with fresh seafood. We could do the wine vally run from Portland and visit all the world class vineyards or visit all the micro brewerys . Eastern Or and the senic Columbia river gorge . From Pdx you are only an hour or so away from everything .

That's why I had suggested somewhere in the midwest. That way it's fair to everyone. But we have a year to mull it over. I'd like to see the west coast, but I don't think that it's gonna happen anytime soon.
M@Man
06-02-2005, 12:11 AM
I wouldn't mind seein' the east coast too, but yes a central location would work out best.
Just don't make it Central Illinois, I've seen enough of this area, I'd like to be able to ride out of the state for this event. :wink_2: AFF, your suggestion of Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Oklahoma, sounded pretty cool. :thumb:

MIssouri would be a good central location - especially the Ozarks. Lots of rolling hills and winding roads, dense forrests, and a couple casinos along the way. Branson would be a good start or end point.

I'd kind of lean towards a tie-in with the Honda Homecoming in Ohio next year. It'd be a hell of a publicity move for the forum, and there'd be no shortage of Shadow people to recruit to bolster numbers and hopefully some cash donations. We could also try and figure a way to sell ShadowRiders gear to make some cash for the forum operating costs.
Just my evil capitalist brain working....

I've been outta the loop for a spell but I could get into a get together. Logisticlly a single event probably won't happen. Other's have tried it. It would be like getting your mother in-law to agree to stying wif your ma. There will be lots of reasons that it just won't work.
HOWEVER, a few group get togethers could happen. Then in 2010 we could plan to climb into each other's anus...I mean... get to gether via net meeting. :crazy3:
At least the peeps in each other's vicintiy should try to hook up. Sounds like there's more than a couple in my area.....PDX. What sayest thou oh great one?

Last year a few of us from another forum met up in Vancouver and rode to Whistler and back for the day. Shadow from Oregon came up for it, and quite a few others from out of town. Two of us from the island came over. It was a great ride.
I'd love to be able to make a meet in the U.S. at some point, but the dragon has my first calling down there.
