SawStop table saws include a unique integrated safety system that instantly stops and retracts the saw’s spinning blade when it contacts skin, resulting in a nick instead of a serious injury. A brief video of the saw in action can be found here: http://www.sawstop.com/media/WMV/Hot_Dog_Demo.htm (http://www.sawstop.com/media/WMV/Hot_Dog_Demo.htm). We have over 250 documented reports of individuals who have been saved an amputation or laceration because they were using a SawStop saw.

That's been around for a few years now. Way too much money, when being careful works just as well. At one time they were considering making them for other saws. The estimated price was around $350 or so. From what I read, that idea is out the window.
Nice idea, but way overpriced.

i agree. it is way to much for the common handyman, but this was sent out from our safetey mgr here at work. big companies would benefit from something like this. it will stop alot of work loss claims.
here is the price now clint...

My friends at Cartoys just got one of those. There is a part that basically self destructs every time the blade drops, $70 replacement every time. I'm trying to get them all to put in on a replacement and get a volunteer to try it out. If I'm successful I'll post up a video!

$70.00 is better then paying thousands in doctor bills..
hell you buy the part and pay $100- i'll put my hand in it..

I'm not sure if you know any stereo installers, but they are a quirky bunch. I'm having more problems getting 7 people to pay $10 each than I'm having finding a person to put their hand, arm, foot or nutsack on the saw.

I'd rather suck the devils dick than stick my nut sack into the path of a 24 tooth carbide blade spinning at 7400 RPMs

a guy i work with just got one of those, and we played with it when he got it. took the hot dog and shit, it was amazing. he uses it almost everyday, being a carpenter on the side and whatnot, so the price is definately worth it, especially since his wife uses it a lot too. amazing what a little bit of well applied electricity can do
