I am looking for 3 to 4 inch forward controls for my 03 Shadow Spirit. I figure these should be the right measurements considering I'm 5'10.
Any recommendations on which ones to get and where to get them? If you have any pics, that would be great.
Thanks!

On the old forum there was quite a bit of talk about some adapters that a guy was making up and selling, but for the life of me, I can't remember what they were called. Hopefully someone with a younger brain will remember and post a link to them. They ran only about $125 or so and would give you about 3" more leg room. At least that's what I remember of them. Sorry I'm no more help than that.

I just put a set of used Mapams on mine last night. I'm 5'10'' with a 30" inseam. The fit seems to be ok. A little akward at first but I believe they're gonna be the ticket! New ones are kinda pricey but what isn't , right. Best price for new is Bikercom.com = $285.00+ free shipping I believe. Good luck.

Are they the stock control extensions that are on ebay? Search ebay motors for "spirit" in the motorcycle parts section.

Based on the pics, I believe these are the forward controls that move your stock controls forward. They also add 1 or 2 horizontal bars to connect/support the forward controls. These bars on in front of the radiator. The mapam's are more of what I am looking for because they don't have these bars.

Yeah, Jayroc's that's what they are! I've seen some where they have eliminated the crossbars, I think they're ugly too! And they do allow the use of the factory foot controls. But hey! They're an inexpensive alternative to the more expensive(Jardine etc. etc.) forward controls.

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered mine from bikercom.com.
I'll post after I get them installed.

I got the jayroc's. Cheap and did the job. I am 6'3" and got the 4" extensions. They made a huge difference as the bike felt really small. Now that I am used to them, I think I should have gone with the 6". I just think it looks really funny to have them sticking out that far.

Got the Mapam forward controls and pegs from bikercom on Friday. FAST SHIPPING!
Installation took about 45 minutes. Pretty simple once I threw the directions away. I had to drill out the spacers so the OEM bolt would slide through, but that's about it.
Feels great! Couldn't be happier with the comfort and driveability. My only "negative" comment is that the quality of the finish on the parts did not meet my expectations given what I have heard about Mapam and these parts. I expected pristine chrome and highly polished billet pegs. They were about average. No scratches or damage, just not what I would consider show quality. Maybe I was expecting too much for $285.

That's why I put Jardines on my bike. In some pics the Mapams look like something I could make at home. The Jardines are expensive, but the quality is worth it.

I found some 3 inch extensions for a 750SS for under a hundred bucks. These are simply black powder coated plates that replace the existing factory plates. They use all the stock parts and include the required hardware to extend the gear selector and brake. No bar running across the front of your bike.
You can get them at www.metric-cruisers.com (http://www.metric-cruisers.com/)
I am picking mine up on Weds and when they are installed, I'll post some pics. I am 5' 11" and figure for a hundred bucks, I gotta try them. Will let ya know.

Try searching on ebay for spirit & extensions. That should lead you to his ebay store and his site from there.

I bought my ss750 a couple years ago and they came with the Mapams. The Mapams look sweet but I'm only 5'8" and I'm a bit stretched out. I was thinking of picking up a pair of stock foot controls to take care of my short ass legs. If you have the stockers and are around my height, are the stock foot controls comfortable for you?
dude, i'm about 5'8" and the mapams are WAY more comfortable than the stockers! you're on a cruiser man, just hunch your back a little and scoot your ass forward on the seat!

the kit they sell is just the "lightning performance" kit...it only moves the stock crap forward maybe 1.5" or so, not much difference at all really:thumbsdow ....i tried this kit several years ago when i first got into these bikes....

Old thread. We'll be making kits to extend the mapams out a 2-3 more inches soon for any of you guys over 6'

Oh, a kit to extend Mapams out would be sweet. I'm only 6', but the Mapams are out as far as I'd like them.
Be looking forward to what you guys come up with.
