97 1100 Shadow Spirit Cold Air Box Mod

Here is my first entry.

Performance gain is small, but noticeable. Enjoy !

The only thing missing in my pictures is the scoop. I need to find a nice little scoop to mount up to it with a forward facing opening =) (If anybody knows of such a scoop, please link me).

I installed a K&N air filter, and used hack saw to slice down on either side of the metal cover just above the rear header on the right side of the bike.

Behind this metal cover, there lies a small plastic deflector plate, I cut this off, as well as a small tab that would interfere with airflow. I have stock pipes with the hole-saw mod, no re-jetting is needed. I am at sea level.

I have no backfiring, no popping, and no noticeable lean spots. I would like to cut the springs in the carb to improve the throttle response - hopefully I'll do that some day.

All finished !

I used a harley air-horn cover as the air scoop. With a little cutting and bending I had no trouble mounting this up. Slick !
