Has anyone put a decal on their tank and then painted over with clear coat? If so did it turn out O.K. and what kind of clear coat paint did you use? I'm thinking of giving it a try.:drink:

Did it on a helmet and it worked fine. Shouldnt be any different with a tank. Good luck.

As long as it is a vinal decal it will work fine.

i have done it many times. i did it on my old bike and it came out perfect. if ur gonna do it yourself you have nothing to lose if you screw it up.. just the decal. but you can always do it again and learn from your mistakes. and yea make sure it is vinal the clear coat will stick better. i used dupli-color acrilic out of the can. its like $4 a can. if it runs just wet sand it and spray again. the more coats you have on the better it looks.

Duplicolor makes a good rattle-can clear. I've used it on several of my airbrushed pieces and it turned out good. To really make it look good, follow the directions for coat times on the can. Spray it a little wet on each coat. You're gonna want to wet sand and polish it out to make it look good anyway.

And to hide the edges of the decal better, use an exacto knife or razor blade to trim very close to the graphic. This makes a decal look better even if it's not cleared over.
