vlx bars on the 1100 spirit...

I really don't like the ape-hanger style bars on my bike, so I ordered an OEM vlx bar for it ... I like the way the vlx bar is much lower ...

My question is - how do I move it back an inch or so?

I want to lean back a bit more ... ???

update:

The ape-hangers are GONE !! FINALLY !! Cost was $ 45 on ebay for a NEW- OEM VLX bar.

I went for a cruise tonight, the bike handles MUCH better with the VLX bars than the OEM spirit ape-hanger bars.

Also, the arm position is about 3 inches lower and it makes a big comfort improvement ! The OEM controls are a direct-fit, and the cables all reach like stock. Also, as you can see in pictures 2 and 3, the bars do not touch the tank when fully turned on either side !

In my case, I did not swap the bar-end weights. I just left the VLX bars empty inside. I did not notice any vibrations or other issues.

The only part that is a little snag is the removal of the left side grip. To remove the grip, I first removed the clutch lever, and then the choke / turn-signal control module, then I pried the upper chrome ring off of the grip. Then I slid a long screw driver all the way into the grip until it bottomed out, and sprayed a little bit of lube in there, then I worked the screw driver side-to-side and then twisted the grip and it came right off !! I used a little bit of contact cement and a rubber mallet to pound the grip back on after I was done swapping the bars.
