What does the number mean for chain sizes? (ex. 520,525,530)

Is it a measurement?

FF, I believe that the first two numbers refer to the length and width of the link itself in increments of 1/8 th of an inch. A 520 chain would be 5/8 long and 2/8 (=1/4) wide.

What do you think of the RPM drop? I noticed a big difference with mine and especially now with the larger rear wheel. I keep forgetting about 5th and I'm cruising at 60 mph.

I just took it up to the gas station today didn't get it wound up. She rode with me this afternoon, but she didn't notice anything different. She hasn't really been on a highway yet.

So....how difficult is it to modify the chain size? Where can I find a "master link"?

-Thanks

You can use a dremel to cut the chain. I cut one of the heads off of a rivet, and pushed it out. Bike shop should have a masterlink for you. Just grab the brand name off of the chain because some master links don't work with all chains.
