Custom Air Intake [Archive]

I am going to try to Mock up a 90 deg Intake for the VLX like the Sons Of Thunder make, but I dont want to spend 160 bucks for it. Got some good ideas from Stainless steel exh tubing bent to using a "j" pipe like under your kitchen sink ? Hey it comes already chromed.

if I can make a 90 deg elbow and attach it with a rubber boot to the Carb and top of with a cone shaped uni filter or K&N

Anybody else got some ideas.

I don't have any ideas but I installed a intake kit from SOMT and it is bitchen. Came with everything you need including jets to rejet the carb. Detailed instructions along with color photos. In fact on his website the black bike is my shadow. I didn't have the dough either but I came up with it after saving a little and is well worth it. Fits like a glove with no install probs at all. Don't want to sound like a commercial for them but they do it right.

That cost includes the Jet kit ? hmmm might not be to bad then.. Thanks for the info
