CustomDreamCycles in Puerto Rico gets the rims made by www.cruiseconcepts.biz out of Texas. You'll save a few hundred by dealing direct, but they still aren't 'cheap'. Talk to Ronnie or Donald at cruiseconcepts.

you can adapt any wheel available for a HD to fit your Spirit. Here is a link to a guy that makes adapters.http://www.weirdharoldscoolparts.com/ This was from another thread.

Cruise Concepts told me that their dealers in P.R. is CDC (that one I knew !@#$%). Apparently they don't want to sell them directly to me. Well, so I went to CDC and they asked $1,250.00 for just the rear wheel without tires. That's fucking expensive!!! I'll check on that one later (last option).

Now, I E-mailed Buchanan's for a 18" x 5.50 aluminum rim to relace it to the stock hub($350.00 without shipping charges and relacing).

Does anybody done this mod? That should do the fat/low-profile tire look I want. Besides, I really like the wire wheel look too. Considering that the VTX rim sells for $185.00. and still a 15" rim, this should be a nice mod for a couple $$$ more.

Any info on this one?

thanks

JJ

Nice pic, love the airbox on there. Looks like a halebop that's blacked out. You could always get one of the guys in the U.S. to buy the rim you need and ship it to you. The only thing is, freight in to PR is air only. So that may be an issue that would raise the price a bit from the $800 or so cruiseconcept charges. Either that or go back and tell Eduardo to give you a better deal on them. Realizing he has to make something (but I'm sure he doesn't buy at 'retail' from cruiseconcepts either), I don't know what the freight is from U.S. to P.R. He doesn't like to acknowledge where he buys the rims. I never got him to admit it, although I did ask on numerous occaissions. Let him know that you've been on several forums that have talked about rims from cruiseconcepts for around $800.00 and tell him you'll get a buddy in the US to buy them and ship them if he won't cut a deal.
Definitely the VTX mod is a cheaper route no matter what. There's a thread about the vtx mod here: http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20

Good luck with it..........now some more details on the bike in the picture, is it yours??? I really like the blacked out look of it. If it's yours, EXCELLENT job, it looks awesome!

Thanks again Rusty. But no, that is not my bike. That's how I want it to look like. Take a good look at the rear wheel. It's an 18" rim on the stock hub! (much better than the VTX rim). And that's the information I am inquiring about. That is, using an 18" rim from Buchanan's or somewhere else and relacing it to the stock hub.

If that bike has it, then it can be done. So, anyone who knows anything else on this mod, please reply.

I did notice the size of the rear tire, and was too lazy to go back and edit my post.
I don't know if Veney is running an 18", looks smaller then that.over at TSW does run that as well as busquit and/or groundhogg plus a few others running the 18"

edit: cause I'm a dumbass!

I dont understand that. I delt directly with Ronnie at cruise concepts, unless he changed his mind about how he wants to sell his wheels.

Difference is, he also lives in PR. So I could understand that if he's got the rights to selling them over there.

I just got off the phone with Buchanans. $344 for the 18x5.5 rim, plus $136 for the spokes. I imagine shipping/insurance at another $35, bringing it to $515. Assuming relacing is about $60 or so, we are getting pretty close to $600.

Anyone know of an 18x6' rim (mag or spoke)? Any with cheaper prices?

Same thing they told me. But they also asked me to send them the hub to drill the rim. Damn! why can't things be easier.

So far, from what I've heard, it's near imposible to get custom rims becuase of the rear break drum. Is there anywhere, or anyone that makes custom wheels that can be used with the rear break drum? I'd love to convert to disc back there, but I hear it is a hell of a lot of chages and work.

Although that's where I got mine from......you may want to try cutting out the 'middle man' and dealing directly with www.cruiseconcepts.biz. Talk to Ronnie or Donald Weeks there. They aren't cheap, but they are the manufacturer of the rims that are sold by CDC out of PR.
As for the wheel covers, I had one before I went with the rims. I got mine from a local Honda dealer. I had been on a waiting list for one from customworld international, but they are having nothing but problems and got nothing but promises from them. Try H.a.c. Products for their wheel cover for the spirit.

I was told that cruise concepts will not sell me wheels (it may be because I Am in PR)... let me tell you they fucked up big time here in PR... they are selling them to the most expensive shop and not the best talked about shop here... besides that...they gave cdc exclusivity here in PR and the law here says that when you do that it can only be broken by the the business receiving it!!!! so... no one here is going to get wheels from any other source because CDC has to decide that they dont want to be exclusive dealer of thowe wheels. Unless other companies start making them and dont give exclusivity I am fucked.

I feel your pain there. We are isolated here as well and have problems getting items readily available. One option you "may" want to entertain is to pick a style of rim and have someone stateside that lives close to Florida get a price for you. Then figure out what it would cost to have them shipped over to PR (keep in mind, of course you are probably well aware...only air in or out of PR). See if that is cheaper then dealing with CDC. I know I didn't get much of a response from Eduardo there when I started asking questions about cruiseconcepts.biz . He never did aknowledge that he buys from them. Of course they do.......it's documented. I'm sure there are some members here that would help you out. I know I would had I lived in the states. Shipping those rims to the island in Canada where I live was expensive.

True enough, CDC would be about 3G. I think moore bought direct for around $980 a rim. But you are right, spokes are nice looking, something about them can't be replicated.

So, if i were to find a wheel that was a 40 spoke, it could be relaced to fit our hubs with the appropriate spokes?

I saw this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CUSTOM-CHROME-40-SPOKE-WIRE-WHEEL_W0QQitemZ4568254053QQcategoryZ35578QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), and if the price is right, i may take it off their hands. ...if it would work.

Dear Rusty Remember your rims where custom made for you and we had to charge extra for the R&D plus we didnt offer free shipping to Canada by the time you ordered.

How have you liked the quality and appearance of your wheels?

Thanks for any input about your wheels.

I know they were custom made, a fact that I made clear to everyone. As for the free shipping, well I sure could have used that. It was over $500 air out of Puerto Rico. That really sucked, because I know I had asked you to have Ronnie and Donald ship them direct from Cruiseconcepts. Ground shipping from the U.S. would have been $65. That's a huge difference just so you could get the wheels to shoot pictures of. Other then that, you really didn't need the wheels coming to you. What's done is done.
I'm VERY happy with my wheels, and I'm sure you've had people contact you from a reference. Whether they buy or not, that's for you to do. I honestly think that the pricing Moore paid for his direct is still on the high end for rims. I paid to have something done that I wanted, and had no issues with that. Mind you, do I get a commission if someone buys another set from you??? I see they are now a regular offering on your site. Might help offset some of the air charges.

Nice to see you over here Eduardo. You may want to look at getting a hold of Menace here on the forums. He's the administrator, he does this site by donations, and it'd be nice to see you kick in some $$ to help offset the costs. Plus it's advertising for you.
