I did it last time and not really happy with sound. On idle & low rpm 600 engine make some kind of hollow can sound. It's quite nice when you twist the throttle. Anyway, it's a very cheap mod and everybody must try it. Most people are happy with the performance.

For the front pipe, don't forget to loosen all bracket first, your drill will hit the rear pipe. I you have poping on deceleration, turn the mixture screw outward 1/4 turn at a time & test. Good luck bro...

I loosened everything but there is a damn crossover pipe between them and the two pipes will not move apart at all, I cant get the drill in there at all with about a 2' freaking extension :furious3: Damnit I was so looking forward to doing this

I read somewhere that it can be done with holesaw.

Anyway, last time I used a hammer & felt-tip screw driver (those with metal portion goes all the way to the grip end) and hack the shit slowly. You must aim very close to the exhaust edge, otherwise it will hit the baffle inside. You will find a small section that is impossible to cut with pipe attached.

Here's a picture of mine. The cut at upper portion looks bad because I drilled some holes there before. Better to do it with the pipe fully attached. Watch your hand...

Don't do anything with the smaller pipe inside like I did, unless you want to rejet your carbs.

I have a friend that wants to do his pipes not that mine sound good . we are going to take a 2" hole saw cut it where we can weld a piece of 18" long tube inbetween.. You cannot use a regular hole saw with a Extention that I bought because the baffle is close to one side and the Hole saw would need to cut the 6" long pipes.. I drove all my baffles out with a long Bar sharpened like a chisel.. and cut the baffle next to the welds and drove out the pcs.. Once the pipe is empty they still have that tin can sound.. Ok I purchased 2 18" long exhaust pipes from the auto parts store they were 1 7/8 with the swedged ends for slip fit. I drove in the pipes and put a screw in the bottom of the mufflers. Now you have straight pipes of 1 7/8 It didn't seem to have the same powerer as before but it sounded great.. (Loud) I pulled the pipes back out and cut a
flap about the size of a quarter turned inside at the location of the crossover pipe. This gave me a slight baffle effect and the crossovers seemed to work again . Power had come back and the noise level dropped . The sound was still great.. you can see some of the mod at These Pics (http://imageevent.com/ralphdb;jsessionid=atdpupeto1.buffalo_s)

I Did also but the CBR was a real Pain in the legs to ride..but fit like a glove. Ride 2 blocks and shift once and my Knee would pop and hurt so bad, from the twist.. I would have liked the 600 also to just turn it up to 25,000. Rpm one time... My CBR was a 6 speed and would run over 100 mph in First Gear ..Awesum..
