I have 2001 ss750, I put v&h pipes on it without jetting the carb. It gets a little rumble during down shifting, i don't mind it. do I have to jet if I do the air box mod? :bed fart:

From what I understand, yes. All the extra air going in and a free flowing exhuast needs larger jets. Check the "bean Box mod" thread and go to the link there

YES! If you don't you will be super lean . You will blue your pipes and scorch your heads .

speaking of re-jetting, called local stealer today to get price and time frame to do a re-jet on my 03 ss750 and this guy says its illegal for dealers to that kind of work on bikes because of the EPA and the pollution control system on the bike, any body else hear of such? Just plain scared to do it myself :xyxnervou

Just do it yourself. It is easy I have done it four times now. It only took me about a half hour the first time I did it now I can do it in 15min.Just take your time and follow the instructions. The reason the shop won't do it is aftermarket exhaust and increasing the air flow raises the emisions level. I havent heared of a shop that wouldn't do it.

Gozz,
Since you're just up the road in Trimble, you can ride it down to my place some weekend and I'll help you rejet. There's really nothing to it. Removing the carbs is the hardest part and that ain't nuthin'!

If you've got after-market pipes on her, you really shouldn't wait too long to rejet. The extra power you'll gain from the rejet definitely makes it worth the trouble.

Technically, what the dealer told you is true, but many dealers ignore the possibility of getting caught by the EPA. It's a $10,000 fine if they are caught, though!
