If your stripping it, your useing the wrong size wrench/socket. Its a 12 mm. Try using 2 open ends, one on the bolt head and the other on the nut. I hope the bolt is just spinning on ya instead of getting stripped. Let us know how your making out!

If you think its stripped, try taking the bracket off at the frame. My Vance & Hines pipes didn't use the stock bracket anyway. If that doesn't work and you really believe its stripped you may have to drill it out.

nope, cruisers. But if they came with their own bracket, you won't be using the one from the stock pipes. So remove it from where it attaches to the frame and leave it attached to the pipes. You can look at it better once it's off the bike.

Like RustJake said unbolt the bracket from the frame. You can then take the pipes in the living room and work on that bolt!

No way, man
He's gonna be just fine.
Doubled take your time get a plan together and go slow. It sounds to me like you might be trying to rush it too much. Remember your trying to learn as you go, don't get flustered, plan each step, if you hit a bump think it through to a logical conclusion before you do anything else.
And above all do one mod at a time.

Here is the actual link to the page..

It's the diagram for the '05 VT750C....which is what I assume is a Spirit.
At any rate...in the diagram that I've linked to you would need an extra wrench for the nut....
In the diagram that RustyJake linked to it appears that both mufflers are bolted to the bracket using the (4)#30 bolts and the bracket is then mounted to the primary bracket (#20) using (2)#28 nuts. In this case the studs are spot welded to that "sub-frame" bracket.
The next step would be to identify which diagram is correct or get more brew. )

Also...it is common for "new wrenches" to slap an SAE tool to the fasteners....these are metric rides and we wouldn't pick on you (that much) if this were the case.

The spirit is a 750DC I believe the C is the Aero.

Well crap ....the "C" used to signify that it was the base model....a Spirit....nevermore.
Anyways, looking at Honda's website it appears it's a staggered setup and the nutz need removing....at the very least vice grips always work....as well as hammers, heat and whiskey.

I wanted to add to this thread that when I remove OEM staggered pipes I remove both pipe's at the same time. Unbolting the bracket that supports them both from the frame and the (4) bolts that mount'em to the engine and pull the complete package off as one unit.
