I just put on struts to lower the back and now I get popping on declleration.I am thinking it is one of two things either lowering the back caused it to change the float level making it rich or I loosened the back of the pipes to get the struts on and may have caused a exhaust leak at the crush gasket.
Will a exhust leak cause popping or is it probably the floats need readjusting?
It did not pop at all before I put the struts on.

My vote is for the exhaust leak. It's a hit/miss chance when reusing old crush rings. Don't try and correct it by over-tightening the bolts either...get a fresh set.

Mine pops when I reve it up to hell but it only makes 1 pop maybe and once in a while... nothing like some machines I heard....I have struts too but didn't have to adjust anything more on the bike except the chain.

My 07 SS exhaust flange only needs 18 ft/lbs. But it could also mean some jetting adjustment is needed as well, tricky business getting your fueling right on anything that is carbed.

decel pop is indication of lean mix, richen up your mixture screws just a tad bit....
also Bob what year is your bike, I'll send you a link for a shop manual so you'll have some answers to some of those basic questions, like torque.

MC-------------------------Hey we meet again ..........i have a manual from clymers. I just installed another exhaust system. [stock] for a 2003. I retorqued the pipe here yesterday.I will try that carb adjustment when i start it again. Idefinitely did not have the bolts tightened down enough though.
