A Blue Angels jet has gone down in a neighborhood in Beaufort, SC. A house is reportedly on fire. They were performing in a nearby airshow. A witness states he saw six jets fly behind a grove of trees and only five came out, he then saw a plume of smoke.

They're now reporting that the pilot was killed. He apparently clipped a set of power lines. Other reports say that it seemed as if the jet may have lost power.

Actually most aircraft incidents can be traced back to pilot error. Or pilot error that CAUSED a mechanical failure

i just meant with these type of pilots

usually they are the best of the best.......

i do agree with you that most of the time it is pilot error. but the last time one of these guys crashed it was back in 98 or 99.

It's a shame when stuff like this happens. From what is being reported, he was in the Blue Angels for 2 years and this was his first airshow flight.
I'm sure all of the training they go through they are probably the safest out there, but accidents happen, and it's always a tragedy when a life is loss.

I remember years ago the Thunderbirds lost 5 out of the 6 in practice. They were following each other in a dive. The first one went in and then 4 more followed him. The last guy managed to pull out in time.

They are great pilots. But I would take a pilot that is use to trying to evade a hostile fire in combat than a glorified stunt pilot as my wingman anyday.

Either way we lost a great, well trained pilot and my prayers are with his family.

i feel so sad for his family. i saw on the news that he was from my area

i haven't read or watched anything else about it so i am not sure what the cause was. did they say what caused the crash?
