i just got an '84 vt500c for 100 bucks. i made a deal with my wife that she can have it if she helps fix it (keep her riding safe because it's something she worked hard on) i can not find a carb rebuild kit anywhere not even ebay. please help me.

I'd go to partsfish and see what carb it is (the part number) then see if other bikes used that same carb. I can't find crap for my 88 VT800, but the engine is the same as in the 800 Pacific coast, and the fram is the same as the 87 700. I even got parts from JCWhitney that worked. with a classic bike, you got to be a bit more creative!

i was thinking about that, i looked at over a dozen specs for the bike and none of them said anything about the size of the carbs.

does anyone on here know that size the carbs are? i might try using a rebuild kit from a cb500
Ok, I thought I had this worked out, but I'm evidently a fucktard. the vt500ft ascot and the vt500 shadow share the same carbs.
I know the earlier ft500 ascots (which were single carb) had a 35mm carb. That's really all I know.

goto PARTSFISH.com, look up your bike and then see if they have the kit. then if you 'pretend' to order it by putting it in the shopping cart, it'll have the honda part number. then do a google or ebay search. you only need the rebuild kit, not the whole carb set.
www.bikebandit.com (http://www.bikebandit.com) They have the gaskets and etc. for a carb rebuild. Just punch in the year make and model and wham!
