Running on a 2006 1100 Spirit.
I do not like the reserve tank method for knowing when I am low on fuel.
Does anyone know of a replacement tank or modification that can be done to get a tank with a gas gauge instead?

Now, about that tank...

Drill a hole about 1/2" diameter in the bottom of the tank.

Light a cigarette

If nothing happens...

Drill a hole about 1/2" diameter in the top of the tank.

Light up again, just to see if there's anything new...

Get a piece of clear hose about 1/2" diameter and stick each end in your freshly drilled holes.

Get some spray foam and seal up the holes.

And that, my friend, is a brand new, home brew, redneck engineered gas gauge.

when you fill up reset the trip meter to 0. when you hit 140 start looking for a station becouse you should be within 10 miles of hiting reserve

i have to start looking for a gas station around 115 or 120 before my reserve kicks in. the sabre must drink up more gas than the spirit. or maybe i just ride like a nut:headscrat


OH and to the real business at hand.... FUCKOFFYOUIAMAFRAIDTORUNOUTOFGASCAUSEICANTREMEMBERTOSETMYTRIPMETERNOOB.

HERE IS A NICE WAY TO CHECK YOUR TANK. FIRST GET RID OF YOUR GAS CAP THEN CUT A 14INCH LONG STICK AND SHOVE A PIECE OF STRYOFOAM ON THE END OF IT. STICK IT IN THE THE TANK FOAM SIDE DOWN. NOW WHEN THE TANK IS FULL THE STICK IS UP HIGH AND WHEN IT'S LOW THE STICK IS DOWN LOW TOO!

Could be your riding, but the spirit is geared different for lower rpm...

i didn't know it was geared diffrent than the spirit. today i went out with my wife and got 135. i think i ride a little smoother with her on it.

which also means you cant use the drop kit that lets you keep the stock shocks :happy2:
