They fit right under the gas tank. You dont have to remove the tank, you can just stuff the in there.

Maybe you took it a little too literal. The wires will fit under the top frame rail that runs under the tank, just behing the steering head. Trust me........

I'm not capable of getting a pic, my cameras are packed up for the move. Can you get a pic of the area. Left side and let us see what the problem is? This shouldn't be a problem to do. :undecided

If you are having trouble 'stuffing' the wires under there, you may want to try removing the tank from the bike. There is definitely enough room for the wires up there. I had originally put my wires on the side, but it made getting the tank on and off a little more difficult.
Taking off the tank isn't difficult, just BE CAREFUL not to scratch it. Make sure the fuel is shut OFF before you start, remove the fuel line. Undo the bolts on the speedo, and then remove from the tank (you can carefully hang that from the front of the bike or remove it totally from the wires). Take the seat off, undo the bolt on the tank. On the right side of the tank there is a vent tube, slip that off too (don't forget to attach it again when you are done). Now gently pull the tank towards the back of the bike. Once it's off, be careful not to hit the petcock or you'll get gas all over. Now you should have full access to placing your wires under the tank.

A lot of people were just able to stuff the wires under there without removing the tank. It's your choice which way you go with it.
