DD,
The Straight Shots wiil be by far LOUDER than the holesaw mod, with or without the baffles in. Just be sure to rejet your carbs when you install those pipes.

Definately the V & H's

I want to install the straight pipes but I hear that they do more harm than good in the HP department, because they dont create any backpressure.. or something like that... I dont know if it is true...

Back pressure is responsible for where the torque curve is in terms of RPM. The reason some people say that you give up HP is because reduced back pressure moves the torque peak up in the RPM range. This will make the bike feel slower in the lower RPM's, but you'll see more of a power gain in the upper range. This only helps if you're drag racing and launching the bike at higher RPM's. The 2 into 2 exhaust is NOT an ideal exhaust system. You'll get more power from a 2 into 1 system, but these are not as popular due to the way they look. Most folks like the looks of the 2 into 2 system. Personally, I don't think the back pressure is as much of an issue as it's made out to be. The carbs are CV(constant velocity) carbs. With the slide working properly, air speed through the engine is kept as high as it can be for ALL RPMs and that air speed is what determines where the torque curve peaks.
This is one area that will solicit all sorts of opinions! Bottom line is, we're not riding sport bikes or drag bikes. A couple of ponies one way or the other is not going to matter that much to us. If it does, we're riding the wrong bike! :wink_2:

That was exactly what I was told.. just culd not remember...
I wasn't that interested in modifying the motor on the 750... I thought that they are slow, and that's all she wrote, but 2 weeks ago a 883 lined up to me in a light and reved up the engine... off couse we were off when the light turned green... the 883 sounded awsome withe the stright pipes but I was able to pull on him!! I was surprised to say the least but since I did that I dont want to do anything to hurt the performance on the hp department! as a matter of fact I want to boost it up a little... and hey let me tell you if you do the right modifications we can put this 750 on the fast lane.

Rheopipo,
Pipes, an intake and a jet kit will boost your power even more! Those 883's won't stand a chance! Not that they ever did! Reducing back pressure only slows things down up to about 15 MPH or so. Collectively, your bike will be quicker from stop-light to stoplight. Ask these guys here that have done the mods. I think they'll agree, the mods are worth it!

Dana,
If they're like the others I've seen, just removing a screw from each pipe will let you remove the baffles. A heads-up though: unbaffled pipes usually require a different jetting than baffled pipes, so you'll want to decide whether to go baffled or unbaffled first.

If you get the dynojet stage one it will have jets for baffled and unbaffled pipes.
Nav.If you have a equlizer pipe between the to pipes would that help with the hp as a two into one?If so dose it matter how close it is to the engine?

Unbaffled pipes with torque cones will take a little away around 15 mph . I think that I have alot more power with them . Before I switched over I had a drag race with a shovlehead bagger and destroyed him . That bike was over 1200 cc .My nieghbor has a 1200 sportster with screaming egeal pipes carb and whatever . I have more power and am way louder . On your stock bike would you ever think to ride 45/50 mph in second gear ? On my bike I can do 75/80 in third . With open pipes and intake and a stage 3 jetkit you can haul ass ! With the dyna 3000 and the DP parts you will haul more ass than a truck load of prostitutes . Power to weight ratio and gearing afect your bike too . Middle wieght cruizers may not pull boats up hill on freeways but that does not mean that they don't move .

There is some gain by having an equalizer pipe, but not as much as a 2 into 1. The 2 into 1 gets it's gains by the scavenging effect the "collector" provides. The equalizer pipe does not provide this same scavenging effect, it just allows for more volume to exhaust the gases. The collector creates a vacuum when one pipe is flowing and the other is not. This alternating flow helps scavenge the spent gases from the other pipe, resulting in better exhaust flow overall. The equalizer pipe cannot do this as effectively.
The location of the equalizer pipe is somewhat critical, but I don't know what the formula is to determine this distance. It would probably have a minimum distance away from the exhaust valve, but then not have to be more precise of a location than a few inches one way or the other. I'm no fluid dynamics engineer, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express! Seriously, building exhaust systems for high performance applications is a science, but it's not rocket science! I'd think if you checked out the aftermarket systems that utilize a cross-over pipe and tried to duplicate them, you'd be in the ball park and should realize some gain over the straight 2 into 2 system. Even the stock system with a cross-over pipe should give you some idea of where to locate the cross-over.

Man!!! do you think that people making custom bikes take all this in to consideration when making those crazy pipes??

Dana,
I've never rejetted my bike yet. You don't "have" to rejet your bike to run V&H's. But, it definitely wouldn't hurt.
Thanks for the comps. Like Sinister stated, my pipes are not Burbs...Jaxon from Wild Card Customs did them for me.

for baffled pipes you run 102 and 104
unbaffled 104 and 106
This is from dynojet stage one kit should be the same as the v&h
