Can anyone suggets were I can get a side mount taillight? Something that has little bit more brightness than a Billski, and not 3 to 4 hundred dollars.
If you can't tell im given up on my Billski taillight. It just is not bright enough.
After almost being hit twice this weekend, I said that's enough. I tore the bike apart and checked all the wiring and everything is the way is supposed to be.
Any and all help is greatly appriciated. Dave

Would you like a landing light off an aircraft, maybe they'd see ya then?

Really, I think the problem with side mounts is most people are accustom to looking for two lights above a bumper, i.e. a car, and have a really slow identification of a motorcycle for that reason. I myself prefer a tail light on the fender because that is the natural responsive place to look for brakes on a slowing bike.

wolf I'm going to keep the Billski but I want something that's brighter. I would rather have a bike the might look a little diffrent. Than to be some fucking crippled in whell chair all my life, because some dumb ass smashed into me.
Dave:
I will post the info for my side mount. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4533513660(about 150.00 or so). Also, may I recommend you install LEDs on your bike. They are rather inexpensive, easy to install and will not harm your charging system/battery if left on. The more lights the better off you are. You can check on ebay and see what you like. I can help you with the install.

I have an led sidemount w/ kuryakyn halogen silver bullets. The sidemount and bullets are running lights and brake lights. I'm pretty happy with them. If you go all led in the back you'll be lit up like a tree back there.

Thats how I put my sidemount on also. Use a 9/16 tap and tap the axle nut.
You can also cut down the axle spacer. Take the spacer out and cut the thickness of the sidemount off the spacer. You have to remove the wheel though. Most do the shock bolt or axle tap.
Heres a pic of my sidemount on the axle. I mounted the wires to the bottom of the swing arm.
Look MA no Wires!

Yes, you slip the sidemount over the axle nut.

I drilled a hole in front of the axle and mounted mine. The axle bolt fits in beteen the opening on the the side mount bracket. I didn't want it sticking way out beside the tire. I ran my wiring inside the swingarm, then it comes out behind the frame, then in the frame and up and out under the seat.

It's not to hard to mount it on the axle. I did and I think it looks better closer to the wheel rather than sticking to far out.

I wanted to do mine like that but cutting the spacer made me hesitant. How did ya cut the spacer down?

That's a good idea. The shock mount does interfere with saddle bags if you ever went on a trip. I should have did the axle mount also.

Hey Moore, do you have any problems with the sidemount rotating on you if you hit any bumps?

I did. I made my own rubber washer and it does not slip any more.

I just measured how much I needed to cut off per thickness of the tag mount and cut it with a grinder with a cutting disc on it.

No, I have'nt had prob's with it doing that RJ yet. I just made sure I got the axle bolt good and tight.
