My Girlfiends dad has a 04 shadow spirit 1100. He was tired of ridin with us with our loud pipes. So I was wondering If there were any mods you can do to the factory exhaust or if the holsaw mod worked on it also. If not whats a good sounding exhaust for them thats louder but not hidious loud. Thanks:grin3:

Hole saw mod works the more you take out the louder it gets make sure you take out the perferated plate it sounds like shit if you leave it in. you can even drill 3/8 " holes in all the baffels that are left to that will get rid of the hollow sound good luck

Go to lowes and buy a 2 1/4" bi-metal hole saw for a drill. Drill the ends of the pipes, take it slow and let the saw do the work. When the ends are drilled out take a vice grip and pull the resonator out. Next take a piece of rebar or pipe and knock out the screen. For a lot of sound get a hole saw extension and a 1 3/4" hole saw and drill the rest of the guts out.
Thats it. Takes about 30 minutes max

I'm thinking of doing this but want to know how much louder the bike will be.
Is it much louder at idle and low revs ?
I leave for work pretty early and don't want to wake up the neighbours or the wife but think the bike could use a deeper tone.

Mine is pretty damn loud with the end baffle removed. Louder at idle and thru the gears but at speed it sort of just rumbles with a nice healthy pitch instead of a wimpy buzz!

Thanks ace, guess I'm sticking with the stock exhaust setup until I find something that will give me what I'm looking for.
