Can anyone tell me the difference, and sequence of application of the following:

a) Self-etch primer
b) epoxy primer
c) polyester primer

I've read that you need to prime bare steel before skimming with body filler, as the moisture in the filler could be trapped and cause rusting...if this is true, which of the other two makes a better base? Planning on using Createx Auto Airs for the main painting...they recommend using their primer on top of an epoxy primer coat...

Geez, I just want the thing red...does Tremcald work?

All the self etch primers I've used were epoxy primers. Use one self etch or regular that is near the color of your top coat. Also I don't think you can apply epoxy over polyester, and never laquer over acrylic

and never laquer over acrylic

Ain't that the truth, did that once. I painted a bicycle when I was in Jr. High and learned that lesson the hard way...it got all wrinkley and stuff. I got pissed, then I had to start all over again.
