Has anyone installed a fuel gauge on the SS750? Kyruyan however you spell that company's name sells one with a voltage meter, that mounts to the top of the tank and looks like a gas cap.

I had looked at that in passing. I just can't see the need for a fuel gauge on the Shadow ( or my Magna). I know that I need to hit a gas station at around 100 miles. As far as the voltmeter, I don't know. Having something electrical in my fuel tank, between my legs, doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. If you really feel you need voltmeter get a bar mounted one

Goodness gracious, GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!!!!
Sorry, it was the first thing that popped to mind.
The second thing was silly too...a plexiglass gas cap?
The third thing that poped in to mind was a gas cap with a gauge on the top and a connection to a float on the underside...it's basic and would work.
Does anyone make somethin' like that?

It's just that I always say to myself "I just filled it up the other day" when I start sputtering and have to flip to reserve. You'd think I'd be in the habit of checking the level by now.
.....And I really like the plexi cap idea M@

That's why I reset the trip odometer each time I fill up

A float on a removeable cap would not be very accurate. I know from years of doing underground fuel tank work. Eventually the float starts to leak a bit and screws up the bouancy (sp). And everytime that you need to fuel you would have to pull the whole assembly

That's why I would design the thing with a replaceable float, just like carbs have. But in this case if it went bad, it would just give you a false Empty reading, and that's how you would know when it would be time to change it.

I expect the drawings that I can submit to the patent office to be emailed to me.
