All I can find so far is a crome radiator cover, pegs, headlight visor, risers and various replacement parts. I'm looking for serious custom mods that people have done to these scoots. One example being a wider rear tire. Probably unlikely considering the shaft drive and all. But I'm also interested in getting rid of the light panel and etc on the tree.
Anywho, sounds like I'm a true noob and I'll expect the appropriate harassment for it but any help you all can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Great forum by the way.

Well...OK!
Fuck Off Noob!
Welcome to the board/funnyfarm/nuthouse...
If you feel like gettin' your hands a little dirty, then no problem! Cuz most of the mods for these bikes are old school mods. You want something done, %90 of the time you're gonna have to make it yourself.
I'm currently workin' on an airbox mod, that involes parts from a yamaha, and plumbing from the hardware store. ( For the rest of you waiting on that one...I'm gettin there, just a couple more "Creative Engineering" things to sort out. )
My sadlebag brackets are made for VTX 1300, or whatever, some of the newer stuff will work. Our problem as "Classic Shadow" owners is, we have to experiment. And that's where the real modin' comes in. :headscrat
Then of course there is always ebay!
Once again, Wecome to the board.

If you found all that stuff then you are doing better than most of
us "oldbike" Shadowfolk.
Anyway welcome to the board!!

Thanks for the welcome brother.
No fear of dirty fingernails. My only concern is going to be how delicate it needs to be. I may be out of luck for anything requiring more polish then a mig and a chop saw.
Your project sounds cool. I'll have to keep monitoring.
Thanks again

Thanks ED
I'll get a list of the add ons I've found together and post them at some point.

Yup, it took a couple of hours, lots of rubbin' by hand and a tube of Honda polish.
You'll have to get some pix of your in there too.

VERY worth the couple of hours! Honda polish...no kidding? WOW! I'm doin that.
Yea, I'll taker out this weekend when the 5 foot drifts are melted and wash it up first. Got a little winter dust in the garage.

5 Foot drifts!:stunned: Where are you located?
Anyway it comes in a red tube, and it's called "Pro Honda Metal Polish and Finish Restorer"
Keep rubbing and that clearcoat layer off the forks, and get them to shine right up.

There never really was much aftermaket products available for the older models...short of generic ones...nothing really specific 'cept for Mac pipes and maybe a seat.
So, that said if you're going to have to adapt goodies you don't necessarily have to limit your supply to Honda associated parts...hell...may even be easy to modify Dodge Tomahawk parts to fit.

Not sure I should be posting these here but... I just cleaned her up! M@t I used your idea with the front forks (although I used Braso cause I have for years). I didn't finnish em cause I had soooo much other to do to it but it's started anyway.
Threw in one of me and the Boy...he's the one ridin the scoot.

Real nice! The tank paint is pretty damn cool. I like your highway bar better than the one I've got on mine.
I give it :thumb: :thumb:
Postin' 'em here was just fine, although maybe a thread should be started for the pix.
I think I'll do that, thank for the idea.

This is as good as any place to post this...
I've got an idea :idea3: for a really simplified forward control mod, just gotta get some metal from the local machine shop and hash out some details before I start workin' on it.
I'll get to work on it next week, and keep you posted (pardon the pun :laugh4: )

That sounds cool M@t. You've got some nice mechanical projects goin on. I'm definately interested in a forward control mod.
I'm just working on some cosmetics right now. I'm welding up a replacment sissy bar out of chain and am considering a similar conversion on my mirror mounts...although I want to look around to try and find something else to use for the mirror first. I don't really like the round ones on it now.
Machine, thanks. That was the only pic I got of him before he started screaming. I didn't realize it was that obvious he was headed that way.

Cool! I like puzzles, do we get a prize? :laugh4: J/K
The forward control thing will be so simple to do, I just gotta get the time to do it.
Got to go over to the next county today, for court (work related)
So I'll be busy today and tomorrow. Infact I gotta get ready now.
See ya!

Ok, I got some of the materials for the forward controls, now I need just a little spare change to get the rest, gotta wait for payday next week.
The more I do to this bike, the more I'm convinced she's a keeper!!:thumb: :thumb:
If I ever break down and buy myself a new Shadow, I'm hangin on to this one. Sentamental reasons, ya know.

But I do have everything worked out, still gotta wait to get a couple of more things, but I am workin' on it.
Here's proof :wink_2:
