The best paint sites I have found are:

http://www.kustomkulturelounge.com/forum/index.php, airbrush.com, both have great forums

I have never found I site that has it all....

Look for books. Two books I recommend are Kustom Painting Secrets by John Kosmoski and How to paint your motorcycle by Joanne Bortles. Joanne has other books available at her site crazyhorsepainting.com

Get in touch with a local paint supplier, one that carries paints like PPG and House of Kolor. Some provide cheap classes on these systems....

HOK has a great user manual as well. Check with the local guys as well. they may hook you up with an older one for free....

Good advice, also you can hit up better art stores and get pre mixed paint like Createx for non metal stuff and Auto Air for metal type stuff. Grab a couple of cheap canvases to try on the first few times, gesso with a brush will cover old attempts. This gives you an avenue to practice easily yet not try to master everything like paint mixing till you get a feel for it. Start with black and white and you can get creative with colors later.

I've been trying to learn for a while. I've done some scale stuff and some smaller car bodies but still trying to master freehand and automotive paints.

A.A. I've got to send back my brush to be rebuilt. I'm also looking to get another what kind do you recomend getting?

Hell, JROD, he had 5 posts. I figured you would have got him already!!! Your slowing down!!!!

I practice with auto air also. I use prepainted sign blanks from signwarehouse.com. Since the AA is waterbased, you can simply remove it with a wet scuff pad if you screw up or want to reuse the same sign blank.

I like iwata's hp-c for general detail work. You can get a .2mm tip to switch from the .3mm to dial it in when needed. With a little practice, the .2mm tip, and a little needle and tip polishing, you can get pretty good detail. For the price, this is a great brush.

For fine detail, I use a Richpen 213c that was modified by Mike Learn of learnairbrush.com. This brush is awesome but pricey!!!!

You can polish the needles and nozzles on both of these brushes as well to help reduce tip dry and improve detail...
