I can not find my radiator cap on a 1996 Shadow. Do I have to remove the tank?
I want to change my coolant this season. Any pointers on how to drain the coolant from the block?

Ok now to your question...uh...the only thing I've ever done is flushed it out using a garden hose. Unless someone else knows of anything different.
Keep in mind, my Shadow is 10 years older, so I'm just going off my experience.
As for the location of your radiator cap??? :headscrat
Once again, welcome to the board.

I don't know about your bike. Mine is drained at the bottom of the block.
Give us some more info on the bike.

Most often they're drained by removing a bolt from the water pump.
The one circled in T H I S (http://bellsouthpwp.net/M/a/Machinehead/VT1100%20waterpump.jpg) diagram.
The cap/thermostat housing is under the tank and behind the right front side cover. You may be able to gain access by loosening the front tank bolt/s and propping it up with something and removing the side cover.
