View Full Version : What's up with the '07 Spirit???

So, this may have already been discussed over here, but I just noticed the '07 Spirit is shaft drive, and single carb. Very similar to the Aero. Some Aero folks think it's really just an Aero with short fenders... I told them that many Spirit riders would probably not be that happy with Honda's changes... Was I right? If it were up to you, would you have changed it to shaft drive and single carb?

Sin changed his to a single carb.... Shaft drive takes away HP BUT isn't a hassle like the chain.... hard to change gearing.....

What say you guys???

Honda's site shows the 750 and 1100 spirit the same as they have been for a while now. 750 still chain driven, etc...

Yes. Your link is for the 2007 updates. AA's link is for the 2006 and 2007 Shadow. Two separate areas of the Honda site. Just looks like they haven't updated the link that AA posted yet.

Looks good, but I hate model changes, complicates things. Looks like they changes alot, I wonder how the gearing is since you won't be able to change it. The 21" front wheel is a nice touch, they got rid if the big ole lunchbox tailight, seat looks a little smoother too. I give it a

The only real nice thing they did was get rid of the brick on the back. Looks like they went with a fender similar to the VTX.
But it definitely looks like they just used the AERO and added different trim. The footpeg location is just like the AERO's as is the motor and it's trim, the bars aren't of the older spirits either.
The only shitty part, it'll make it difficult for aftermarket parts suppliers to justify continuing making parts for the older models. They'll focus on what's currently being sold.

Here's another link that gives a bit more detail.
http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/newsandupdates/2007_honda_vtx1800t_spirit_750/

I think it's an Aero frame and motor, probably the same forks, just w/o the covers. Also the Aero has a one piece handle bar riser piece of shit, and this has seperate. I hope it is, that way there will be a bunch more after market shit for my bike. (A bud on another forum pointed that out to me, and I liked the idea)

What? You'd expect them to give up the lunchbox hanging back there all at once? After all these years? It couldn't happen....:knife:

In one place they say a 21" front wheel. In the specs it says a 19" front tire. I wonder which one it is.

Nice thing is, if they do go with a 21" front wheel, it'll make the change out easier for all of us.
Pegs, you think there's similarities??? I'd say there is!!! It's almost as if they used a cookie cutter.

I was thinkin about it @ 3 AM when I started my smoker. That rear fender looks familiar..... HEY, that front fender looks familiar.... and the 21 inch front tire..... and the tank.... and the seat (shape is the same) and the handlebars... etc. AMAZING! Weird. Relocated the coolant bottle too. Near the rear. Different handlebars and side cover are no longer chrome. I wish they would change the rear shocks into a single hidden one. This would clean the back a bit. Dont know, Im 50/50 on this one.

When I bought my 06, I looked through all manufacturer's catalogs and found the style I want, SS750. From Harley to Suzuki and all others... There was no other bike that looked right to me, but that 07 locks my decision, I won't get rid of my 06. If ever, I will build my own bike, kit or custom I don't know, but never one of those new spirits! Never. :madani: :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :madani:

Well, if you look a little closer to the engine, it looks like the "fake fins" on the engine are gone. It actually looks like the cylinders are made w/fins. There are a lot of subtle changes goin on there. Like the speedo housing and the gauge, totally different. The specs also show the capacity of the tank is a little larger. Exhaust pipes are little beefier also. I agree with the fact that they took an aero, made some changes to meet in the middle between an SS and an Aero. I like it I think,, it'll probably grow on me the more I look at it. I also like the new bars too.

Well I'd have to agree with MI on this one :furious2:

It's a re-hacked Aero:furious2: an If I'd wanted one when I bought mine I would have gotten an Aero, I know some of the Mod's here don't appeal to every one but I think they would have done Better with a Factory Bobber look like Hardley Did:knife: Flatted Out with some Short Apes Cheap to do but I think it'd Sell a lot Better

I kind of like the new style. But I am keeping my 06 and like my 06 better. I do like the front fender better on the new 07. It looks like it is not as wide as the 01-06 ones. I also like the seat on the 07 a lot better. But that is a fairly easy fix on a 01-06.

Another good thing is that that means that our bikes will become more unique which is great.

Only 300$ difference in price. I think it is worth the price difference for what you get. To bad they dont offer a soft tail version.
It seems both models are shaft driven <sigh> A better option for honda would have been a belt drive.

The current model is chain drive, the late 07 will be shaft. One major reason I think they stayed away from belts is the strength and reliability of steel (chain/shaft). I have heard of stripping teeth from the belts.

Belt Drive = No More Burnouts!!! :mean:

When I settle down some day, I thought about the conversion to belt drive, but for some reason I have a thing with smokin tires!

I've been doin a lot of that street art with my truck lately, being careful of others of course! My rear tires always wear quicker than my front, I need new ones before winter... Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be down to NO tread and it'll be time for new victims! I love my ford!
