i had a 99 ace and loved it but my big ass needed more engine so the 1100 sabre was much like my old bike so i went with it. the guy across the street from me has an ss but ive never seen one run nor do i know anything about them. with any luck my bike is fixed and im happy. on the other hand if its still screwed i will see what kind of air it can get off the nearest bridge close to my insurance company

My '02 is also piped and jetted with a K&N filter. I also had some issues with hot pipes and some rapping on deceleration. I believe the previous owner had the larger ( 70 & 73 mm ) jets installed. It seemed to be a bit too much and was fouling the two plugs in front of the intake runners. I was able to asjust the needles and lower the idle a touch and it runs like a charm now.

what is the issue with the jet variance, my 1100 has 62-62 jets, and i dont notice the diffrence, does it matter what the jet size is??

and i thought i new everything:rolleyes3 :rolleyes3 :rolleyes3

ok heres the full story on mine. i bought the bike in december rode around locally and the front tire would not hold air and it had a wobble to it. took the bike to honda shop and they said it was low on air. " no shit a tire with a leak low on air im fucking astounded" so i took it to another shop and just bought a new factory replacement tire. then rode some more locally never really checking my gas mileage.now heres where the story takes a shit dive. 14 of my friends decide were going to ride to cuidad acuna mexico. my girl and i ride to oklahoma city to get some stuff for the trip and the bike runs out of gas at 79 miles???? i was shocked. i assumed i didnt fill the bike up all the way or something and rode on. for shits and giggles however i threw in the recommended hotter plug for harder riding changed the oil and air filter and put the baffles back in the exhaust. rode around mileage seemed ok rode home put bike in garage forgot to turn off the key. went to fill up for trip battery dead. i put it on the charger and went to bed.i got up early and decided i better try the key nope still dead. i haad to wake up the girlfriend send her 22 miles to a parts store to get me a battery.store open at 7am we are leaving at 745. i finish packing loading my bike and she returns put the battery on( which recomended it be charged for 6 hours?) and fired up my bike. headed to the meeting spot and realized i had not secured my new helmet to the backrest and had to turn around and retrieve my scratched up shit. got ot the meeting spot and took an ass eating from an old timer for not being fueled up. fimally trip starts and everythings good were riding fairly easy(65 mph) and all is well. around 2pm we start riding a little harder(70-75 mph) trying to get where were going for the night and i realiz at fuel stops my mileage is crap like 24 mpg. at one point on the trip i got 16 mpg. i talked to honda in del rio texas and they said i shouldnt have left oklahoma with a bad bike. duh. so me and the old timer start riding alone at slower speeds hoping for better mileage (mileage goes up to 38 to 42 mpg)so i call another honda place they tell me thats impossible. i said no the shits happening and they said no its not .now im ready to rain down with the guns of navarone on someone. but i finally get home with my wonderfull honda sabre 1100. i called a couple of shops who all said the symptoms were impossible or it was supposed to be that way if the bike was jetted and piped.i finally said fuck it and took the bike to a shop and intimidated the mechanic until he looked at the bike. i also have the head tick so i wanted him to look at that also. (i am mechanicaly inclined and could have done this myself and did on my old bike but didnt have the time) on the way home from dropping off the bike i get major sick and go to the hospital for appendicitis and have to have surgery while im in there honda calls and says yea the carbs were not even bolted down they had the carbs cocked in there which left a gap for air to get in. i guess the bike shouldnt have even ran like that the guy said. any way girl and i finally got to ride it last weekend and in a hard wind at 75 we got around 35 mpg so im happy. sorry aboout the long post but i thought this was a funny story

Wow.... I think the technical term for your ongoing situation is called a "shit magnet". It has nothing to do with the bike at all... it's YOU. Man, that is just a whole lot of bad days rolled up into a ball. I'd still be a bit concerned about the milage tho, I just did a three tank ride with extended riding at 75-100 mph with a buddy on a bone stock 99 aero and we both got right around 43 mpg. My front pipe got a little too hot and discolored the heat shield at the first bend and the aero, even with the stock set up got so hot it melted the reflector on the side of the radiator, but both ran tip top. As for the tire, I'm just killing off the last remnants of my stock Dunny and then those round turds go in the trash. I'm going to the Metzler ME880 in a 200 rear. Buddy just put one on and said the handeling is night and day over stock, said it feels like the bike lost 200 lbs in the corners and it's supposed to be a 5000 mile tire. If you're still having a problem with the front end wobble (vibration) it's probably the axle is out of alignment. I believe the repair manual tells how to ballance it. Just involves loosening the bolts, pushing it up against a wall and re-tightnening the bolts. Takes two people to do it, but, worth the effort if it helps.

thanks for the tip ill try that and yes i do believe i could be a shit magnet. ive read head tick can be fixed with different type oil so im going to try that. read day after i got the new tire that those tires are crap.so next time ill get something else. the mileage isnt worrying me too much because im a lard ass and there was a lot of wind plus a passenger bags windshield blah blah blah insert excuse so not to blow up bike here lol

Maybe it really wasn't the bike and the stealer just told you that cuz he didn't want to hurt your feelings by telling you that you possibly don't know how to ride?
