I just wanted to thank everybody for their kind words in the shout box. I really appreciate it.
For those of you who don't know, one of my best friends was killed late last night in an accident. He lost control of his truck exiting the highway and rolled it over. He was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
His mom called me just after midnight and told me. Basically spent the rest of the night calling the other guys from the Fire Dept. passing the word.
It still feels like it's a dream. I couldn't even make it through the whole day at my full time job.
He was divorced but had two young daughters that he adored.
It just isn't right. The good ones die and child molesters and rapists live forever in jail on our tax dollars.
Anyway, Thanks for letting me rant.

Amen Brother!
It seems to be that way doesn't it. The good people get taken away from us when the scum bags seem to live forever.
Prayers are with you and your friends family to heal the hurt but to never forget.
Take care!

Sorry to hear it man. We all need to extra safe out there. I am hearing a lot of bad accident stories as the weather improves and more people are out in their cars and on their bikes.

Be safe.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Our thoughts are with you.
Like Menace said, Please be careful! The weather is breaking and the people in the cars aren't used to seeing 2 wheelers. Yesterday I saw a guy on a bicycle almost get hit and today one was hit!
Again, sorry to hear about your friend.

Here's a pic from the last time we really got to go hang out together. He worked so much, didn't get to go out alot lately. We were at the local Hooters restaurant with our friend Kathy who is also a call firefighter. It was theme night, and as you can see the theme was French Maids. I just happened to bring my digital camera because we were supposed to take out one of the newer guys on the dept. He had never been to a Hooters (still hasn't.) He backed out that morning so I told him I was going to get pics to show him what he missed.
That's BIg Wayne on the right. I've already told my boys that we're going to have to do a memorial run to Hooters. We'll put his pic at the head of the table. He'll be there with us anyway.

It was. It continued at the local sports bar in town. Just came from there, wanted to make sure the staff knew.

Got home from work and visited his mom. Came home and got the bike out for its first official ride of the season. Got to the end of the dirt driveway and it tipped onto its right side as I stopped on the soft grass. Funny thing was I felt it going down but couldn't stop the momentum, I was pulling my leg out as it was falling. Damn footpeg came to rest on the arch area of my boot. The bike never touched the ground!!! My neighbor and brother came out and the cable guy that was driving by turned around to make sure I was OK. The bitch of it was that by the time we got the bike righted and I composed myself, the battery died again. I'm just gonna go get one of those gel batteries someone had mentioned.
What a lousy week!

Hey man, sorry about your buddy. I really haven't shouted at you that much, but you seem alright to me. Anyway, going through fucked up shit like that is never easy - don't carry it around with you. Go for a ride and clear your mind. Take it easy, ride smart, and b safe.

A little bit of good news today. Autopsy showed no alcohol in his system.
