Since there is a post about helmets, what do you all think about riding clothing?
Who thinks leather is a must, who thinks it's a novelty and when do you decide? If it's too hot?
Special riding boots?
Chaps or leather pants? Jeans ok?

I wear a leather jacket in the spring/fall/winter, vest in the summer. Leather is good protection but wearing 'em in the summer and wrecking from a heat stroke isn't good either.

After my encouter "Bike vs Bambi", the Mrs. made me agree that I'd wear a jacket and gloves from now on. Since there was no skin left on my arm or hand, it wasn't a hard sell.

Cooler weather we wear leather.
Summer months we switch to mesh gear. The only time we go without jackets is weather like this past weekend - 95+ with high humidity...
Never shorts unless they're under mesh pants.
Always wear the helmets, boots & gloves.

I perfer leather jacket and gloves...always a helmet...
As it gets too hot I switch to the armored mesh jacket but the rig is the same. Typically here in Alabama when I am headed out mid day I will loose the jacket in the heat. I realize the risks, but the risk of over heating the body could be a more critical issue in our heat and humidity.
