Here ya go! The upper fork tube is too long by 11/16''. Other people were cutting it off of the top of the tube. I was gonna do it like that but since the tubes are tapered. If you cut it there, the diameter would be bigger then the diameter on the tree and you would see the cut. I increased the notch on the bottom of the upper tube.

Thanx man!! I'm digging the looks of your scoot as well! Cant wait to see it painted!!
I got the rim and the 200 is comin on wednesday! :luxhello:
As far as installing them. They weren't too bad. Just some precise cutting and you have to tap your lower trees. These covers were in great shape when I got em.
I wrapped tape around the entire upper fork cover. Then I removed the forks. Held it under the upper tree and marked the bottom of the tube. Drew a line on the tape and I cut it free hand with an air sawzall. Filed my cut a little till they fit tits. Then slid the fork back through the covers and the trees. It's important to put the forks back in temorarily so you can mark the holes through the covers mounting tab onto the tree. Take forks back out, then drill and tap the tree. Then put the whole mess back together!! Another reminder.. do not hit the front brake while the wheel is off!!

We went out looking at a couple houses in Pa today. Port Jervis, NY & Matamoris, Pa are underwater. It was unbelievable. Looking from the hiway at some of the areas all you saw was the top couple feet of some houses.

Looks great . Really beefs up the front . Makes the front tire look skinny . You need to reroute those cables behind the trees . I think you really notice them now . Great job . I am sure you find others wanting to do the same after seeing this .

I hear ya about those cables. I'm workin on it! :wink_2:
When I first got the bike I was nervous about workin on it. I've worked on muscle cars before, but never messed with a bike. Same shit in a way. Seems everytime I complete something on the bike my balls get bigger! Cables are definately on the list!
Appreciate the comps man!

You should have done it when the tubes where off the trees . That's the easy way . It looks good tho . Don't take this as a critisizm . It is not , it is just a idea .

No offence taken. I welcome any ideas or tips. I'm probably gonna drop the forks again. I'm thinkin of attatchin some bullets to the covers. When comes time for the cables I'll probably drop the forks again!! I love workin on it. Next is the seat and the VTX mod, I have a set of burbs on the way too. Then the cables. Can you tell I have absolutely no order in the way I'm doing this?

Ahh I see what ya mean. I shoulda pushed the stockers behind the trees while the tubes were off!!! Ya know how many times I pushed them outta they way when I was tappin the trees. Ya know what.. :bounce: I'm gonna pop em' back off and do that!! Thanx sinister. I definately agree that it will look much better.

I read somewhere (I think on TSW) you can use the fork covers from a aero and you dont have to cut anything.

Yep, You can use the aero covers without any cutting. The ace covers fit on the magna without cutting. I looked for almost 3 months for aero covers and came up empty handed. I was debateing to get the covers I had been offered becuz they had to be modified. But the price was right so I couldn't pass em up! =)
You can also get the aero covers from service honda.

It's nice, but for that kind of money you think they could have paid a little more attention to details. The back tire looks off center in the fender. The front tire appears to be off center as well.
I like what they've done with the swing arm though. Overall it "looks" good. Just wonder what else they've skimped on if they couldn't line up the fender/tire.

Mods, Someone ought to pin this thread. This is great infor for anyone wanting to do this mod.
Corpse what did you do at the bottom of the covers at the lower forks? is it metal on metal there or did you do something to make some sort of slider? Also do you think there is room in the top cover to bolt on bullets and hide the wires in there? What seat is that on you bike now I don't recognize it?

To protect the lowers I used the tape stick velcro. The fuzzy side of the velcro. It keeps it centered on the lower and prevents it from scraching the aluminum.
I had kuryakyn bullets bolted to the upper covers when I had the stock rake. Theres plenty of room for the wire. I did cut the bolt down a little bit.
You wont recognize the seat because its custom :)
I agree it should be in the sticky section but thats not my decision.
Heres a few pics of when I had he signals bolted to the covers.

Nope they had to be redone. The height in between the raked trees is larger and the lowers are too short with 3 inch extensions.

On my stock trees I drilled and tapped my lower tree to hold the cover on. With the raked trees I have them double stick taped to the lowers. No issues with them spinning or dropping yet.

Great looking bike!!!!
corpse - 2 questions for you
1) - did you have problems fitting the progressive springs on your bike in combination with the scootworks kit. I just did this mod last night night and the lower chrome housing interfered with the bolt on the scootworks kit. The only way i could get the springs on was to remove this cover.
2) Turning right - what rubs first, the foot peg, or the exhaust? (when you had stock exhaust)

I had to knoch that chrome cover so that it will slip over the lower bolt.
okay cool -- thats what i started out doing as well -- but then I made the notch too big so I just cut the whole thing off.

Nice bike Corpse. How do you like the forward controls? They look like Scootworks. I am only about 5'7" so I'm curious if 4" would be too much. Any advise?

The forwards are Mapams, not scootworks. Like the noober mentioned too, at 5'7'' you'll be able to reach the pegs, but you might be pretty straight legged. I'm 6' and my legs are a little bent. If I throw my heels on the pegs, my legs are straight. You're about 5'' shorter then me so I would think they would be uncomfortable for you.

There are several threads started about CBR mods. Basically everyone is going to tell you to use the search button. Just type CBR into the search bar and im sure you will find what your looking for with a little searching.

You can mount most custom headlights onto the stock honda mount with very little modification. Personally, I think the mount on ebay makes the headlight stick out way too far and it adds a bunch of unnecessary metal to the front of your bike.
