A lot of debates in the media about him not wearing a helmet when riding. I wonder what happens to the no helmet law in PA.

Big Bens probably been hit harder by some of those big defensive lineman than he was by that car. Hope he comes through OK and keeps winning on the field.

Being born and raised in Pittsburgh, what a kick in the nuts!
I'm willing to bet that pretty much every major sports contract from here on out has a "no motorcycle" or at least "helmet" clause in them.
A friend of our family is the trauma doctor who was working on him. Maybe I'll get some inside scoop on just how bad it was.

I posted about this on another forum I frequent. It turned into a big pissing contest ovwer helmet/no helmet. Some folks there were slamming him, calling him stupid with a capital S for not wearing a helmet. I'm sure he, now, knows better than a lot of us how a helmet can help. That being said... hello.. america.. fredom of choice... hello I do wear a ff helmet, but occasionally go w/o. It's my choice, and I'm glad I live in a state that allows me to make my own decisions!!

Does it annoy anyone else that all the talk is about him not wearing a helmet? How about the fact that a car turned in front of him? The helmet would be a moot point if that hadn't happened.
I had basically the same thing happen to me almost a year ago. I wasn't wearing a helmet, but I don't think a helmet would've kept me from a stress fracture on my femur. I had a cut on my forehead, a cut on my shin and the break to my thigh.
Not to say that he should or shouldn't have been wearing a helmet (I choose not to sometimes), just would be nice if this could be turned into a little bit of education about what happens when the driver of a car is not paying attention and hits a motorcycle. Trust me, since my accident, I've been preaching to everyone I can about paying attention. After this news, I'm starting to annoy everyone around me again with my preaching.

uuhhhh, the fact of the matter is, CAGERS DONT SEE US! PERIOD!! even if he had worn a helmet he still would have gotten hurt, i wear a full face (cuz i'm fuckin ugly!) even when i ride my little scooter to the corner store, but it is the right of the rider to not wear one, to each is own.........

They aren't charging the driver either.
On a side note:
"In an additional development, KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh reported Roethlisberger does not have a valid Pennsylvania motorcycle license and that his temporary permit expired in March, though he does have a valid automobile driver's license. "
Can you say oops?
Sounds like he's gonna be ok though.
GO PATS!
