Headlight change?

Has anyone done a headlight swap... specifically, changed the 1100 Spirit to the VTX1300 headlight unit?

Yes, I put a vtx1800 headlight on my 05 SS 1100, its really simple, basically it will fit on the stock bracket, the only problem is that the clutch and throttle cables have to be re-routed to prevent them from rubbing the back of the chrome bucket, if you wanted to get technical you could have a machine shop build you a bracket to move the assembly forward about 1 in., thats what i plan on doing with mine, i just have to wait till i get home at the end of june to design the bracket and machine it, if youre interested in the specs let me know and when i get it built i will send you the specs. Other than the cable clearances there are no other problems, and the increase in light output is tremendous, plus it looks cool (at least i think it does):cool3:

I just purchased the vtx 1800 headlight case and rim ($60 on ebay!). I havent measured the VTX lights themselves, will the guts in our head lights fit inside this case?

No, the guts in the stock spirit light wont fit, you have to use the main headlight assembly from a vtx to make it work, the mounting system is different in the vtx unit, the lexan assembly is about $200, but it will accept the stock H4 bulb and wiring.

I would like to do that myself. Airport's looks real nice with that big ole VTX headlight! I wonder how it would fit with my driving light set up?

blue, after looking at your pics i think the light would work with the lightbar, but the windshield would prolly have to be changed.

I wanted a bigger headlight so i bought one! The only thing was it has a road star attached to the back of it.
