Are they somehow more comfortable? or is it purely a style preference. I've never riden a bike that didn't have the "U" shaped bars, but I've always like the way the drag bars look.
Any advantage or disadvantage to having them over the traditional style?

I believe it is more cosmetic than anything else. But I They will change the you feel the bike. It makes it appear more agile, and nimble. combine those with a nice set of full chrome grips, sweet :ukliam3:

I agree with crackher... The drag bars make you feel more agile, and aerodynamic. I love them. They gave a whole different feel to my Aero. You feel more in control of the Aero, since the CG of the motorcycle gets lower. Your weight tends to go more to the front and lower than before. It's been the best mod for me.

In the picture I've got in my head, from your description, makes your posture more like that of when you're riding a sportbike... with your chest closer to the tank?

I have rode my buddy's ACE and my Spirit . His sits you more upright . Mine sits me back , arms striaght and leaned over all at the same time . I think the drag bars are more agile . Because of my riding position I feel more like a part of the bike . On the ACE with the beach bars I feel stiff and tend to muscle the bike . Stiffen the arms and lean maby a little push and pull . On my Spirit I just hold on and lean .

I just swapped mine over to drag bars. Took a little getting used to. Tend to counter steer more than with the stock ones. I love it. I wouldn't swap back for anything. And it looks freakin bad ass. :jamming:

Reverend... this is exactly what i'm talking about... It feels more like a sport bike, but you still have the style of a cruiser. And you're not so close to the tank (depending on the bar measurements) I have the Cruiser Performance 6" 1.25 Tbars, and it's just the right size to me... haven't tested the 8"
This is how it looks:

That does look pretty damn good.
Just one more question then...
Have you found it to be more comfortable to ride with the drag bars?

Yes, I feel more comfortable. You feel actually "part" of the motorcycle. With the OEM handlebars, I felt more stiff. The only suggestion if you are planning to do this: buy a pair of good, comfortable grips. I bought Kuryakyn ISO's and they look great and feel very comfortable. Why this advice? Since you will lean more to the front, so will your weight. So, your arms will have to support part of your weight now. With the grips, it sure is comfortable. I recently went on a trip all around the whole island (I live in puerto Rico), about 400 miles, in nine hours, non stop (except for gas and one stop for food), and had no complaints later that night (except for sunburn :) ). So... they ARE comfortable.
