Okay, I really really dislike the service department at my local dealer. As many of you know, I got an '06 Aero in March. I purchased it from the same dealer, and was somewhat satisfied with the sales dept. I had a run around at the time of delivery as well, but that's already been bitched about... I have ordered different things from them recently, and in the past, and have always felt like the parts dept. took exceptional care of everyone.

<!--[endif]--> Anyway, I scheduled the 600 mile service for today, 4-25, about 2 weeks ago. This is the traditional 600 mi service for a new bike, oil, fluids..., re-tighten, etc.. They quoted me $230.00 including labor ($60/hr) for the deal. At the same time I have been trying to decide whether or not to re-jet myself, or have them do it. Everyone online tells me to do it, everyone I talk to around here says, just pay... To make a long story short, I put my Cobra drag pipes on last night, but didn't get done till really late. I decided to go ahead and let them jet it when I took it in. When I got up this morning to ride across town to take her in, ~40* brrr, I fired her up and immediately noticed an exhaust leak:dunce:... The front pipe, right up by the head. I shut 'er down, and loosened the bolts to the support frame, then checked to make sure it was seated properly and tightened. It was. At that time I had to go, so I could drop the bike off, and get to work. I figured I'd just have them fix that as well.

So I get to the dealer, and go inside to drop off the keys, and jet kit. The guy at the counter looked at me kind of funny when I pulled out the Dyno jet kit, and asked to get the unused parts back. He said, "Well, we don't have a dyno, or a yband (or somethin like that) to get your air fuel mixture right." I told him I had spoken with the mechanic on the phone, and he knew what I was talking about. He said, "Ok, and we'll fix the exhaust leak for you too." When I talked to the mechanic on the phone he quoted me ~2 hrs labor for the jet kit.

I got a call at about 1:30, and he said they were done with my bike. He told me that the exhaust leak couldn't be fixed, as it was a "hole" in the pipe. Everything else was done, including jetting. When I got there to pick up the bike, they said, "Did you see it sitting outside?" I said yes. (Them)"Here’s your key. Have a nice day." I said, wait, I asked to get the unused parts back from the jet kit. The lady kind of looked at me like, jeeze I'm trying to go home... At least that's how it felt. Anyway, she went in the back and came out after a minute or two, "you mean this little thing?" As she handed the box with the spring, and what I thought looked like all of the jets that came with it, back to me. I asked, do you know what jets they put in it? Now I got the, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ASSHOLE look, as she went in back again. A few more minutes go by, and then she comes out, "he used the 26, just like it says in the instructions. You know we do this every day..." At that point I was a little perturbed. I said, I just like to know what I am paying for, the instructions also say to replace the original spring with the one provided, but you did not. She just said, “Okay, thanks have a nice day.

I was over it; I just went out into the cold, to ride home. I couldn't believe they couldn't take the time to tell me what they had done, and where the "hole" in the pipe was. As I obviously didn't see it when I installed them. But nope, nada, nothing, zero, zilch, zippo, fuck you very much!!! I was so frustrated; I just saddled up and took off. I get home and get to looking her over, there are 3-4 light scratches in the tank that were NOT there this morning. They're nothing major, I should be able to buff them out, but that's bull-shit. I don't think I’ll ever take my bike there again. I'll drive a little farther up the road to Dan's Cycle in Hesston. I hear they KNOW how to take care of their customers up there.

:furious2: that fucking sucks! i mean, custumer service is not a priority with that place, what the fuck?, you pay someone to do a job, they are supposed to do it!no matter what, it is YOUR right to grt the service you pay for,if it happened to me i would call the "stealer" and talk with the owner and have a few people fired, the next thing i woud do is report them to the BBB, and let the dealer know my intentions, FUCK THE DEALERS!:knife:

Is it even possible for them to properly "tune" the bike with an exhaust leak?

Sounds like the kind of service Meridian Motorcycle of Fayetteville, NC is famous for around here. That's why I trailer my bike an hour away to a smaller town with a better shop. They take the time to talk to you and don't treat you like a dumbass. It's worth the extra effort for me.

So sad...but unfortunately, seems to be the "norm" with a lot of stealers. There are a couple shops in this town I wouldn't buy a bike from, let alone let them service one.

Our shop we go to is great. Our sales guy goes in the service department when we bring either of the bikes in to make sure they are extra careful with them "because you KNOW how anal they are"

BEFORE we go in and pay for any service, we go over the bike with a fine tooth comb. If it wasn't that way when you brought it in, they need to make it right. Don't pay for service until they do. Leave the bike there - that is the LAST thing they want.

Anytime we've had major service done, the service manager or one of his mechanics have went over the bike with us to be sure we're happy.

There are good shops out there - and the extra mileage when you need them is definitely worth it.
