There was some interest in these as an alternative to a weld in cap before the big crash.

Get the unvented cap, since the SS759 and Magna tanks have a vent hose that runs to the tank.

Mine will be in this week. I'll post a pic when I get it on the tank.

They will fit a SS750 and the Magna. That I'm sure of. The way he explained it was anything with a 1 1/2" opening in the tank

The cap showed up yesterday. It even came in the original Kuryakyn packaging. Looks nice, won't be able to try it on my tank until it comes back from paint. But it did look sweet on Susan's.

I assume that's a mock up pic, not a permanent install yet. Do you have a pretty good comfort level with any potential future leaks after study the overall design / install at this point? BTW - it looks great. I likey...............

I just put it there to get a pic. It's really for my bike. Once the install is finished I can't forsee any problems with it.
Hopefully I'll have my stuff back from the painters in the next week and I'll get it put in.
For the price you can't go wrong.

So I take it the cap will sit lower and more flush with the tank when you actually put it on....

AirportFF

That's as far down as I put it. I don't think it will sit any lower than that, since the lip of the opening sticks up higher than the area of the tank surrounding it.

Sorry for asking but what is "jb weld"?

AirportFF
03-23-2005, 05:08 PM
It's a two part epoxy. Comes in a small tube. Squeeze out equal amounts and mix it together. Will bond just about any two surfaces together
I use it quite a bit on my remote control cars if I break something and don't have a spare part handy.

You may have to use a small half round file and cleam the inside lip of the gas tank filler neck. Mine had a small edge near the bottom that the cap would hang up on.

Just a question on this gas cap.

I was told that for our bikes would we need the Vented one. Also why not just buy one here, grind off the threads and JB weld it in?????

The tank is already vented. That's what the small tube is under the right rear on the tank.
As for removing the threads, I'm not gonna bother to sit there and grind all that down. For the couple extra bucks it cost it's worth it.

He posted that at about 5 PM yesterday, and you posted about 8 PM, I'm sure he'll post another pic today.
But here's one he posted earlier: http://www.shadowriders.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3014&postcount=14

ANyone else make gas caps for ss750? I got a new tank and my old gas cap doesn't fit. Now I have to use two keys, one for the ignition, the other for the gas cap. Pain in the ass!!!! Where else can I find a gas cap with no key?
