Woke up this morning to ride to class and didn't get a block from the house and felt my ass sliding all around, pulled over and saw that the seat bracket broke right off.:bomb: The seat is still in good shape my only complaint is the shitty bracket and mounting hardware that came with it. So looks like I will be making one my self unless I find a heavy duty one online somewhere.

just from what i see in the picture, your not allowing for any movement in the front. The front needs to be a pivot point, that`s why the bracket broke.Try using a lock nut but don`t tighten all the way up and allow for the seat to move(up and down).

Well that sucks! Looks like a new bracket should not be too hard to fabricate.

I was thinking the same thing FF, that is causing the bracket to act as a spring and caused it to weaken and snap. Another option, which is what I am looking into making for CrimsonReign is using a sex nut and bolt for the front to act as a pivot or hinge barrel.

There are two acorn nuts on either side and acts as a hinge to allow the seat to move up so you can access battery/terminals. Ect... The bracket is easy to bend with my hands so maybe from my big ass and the Houston streets it was only a matter of time till it snapped.

This is going to sound like a broken record but....

Is that an extra compressed lock washer under the acorn nut? If so, did the 'hinge' portion move freely? If it didn't, it simply transferred the bending moment to the small bracket, then fatigued it at the socket head cap screw.

The acorn nuts should have bottomed out, leaving a small gap between the brackets. If extra washers were added, it compressed the outer bracket and failed to opperate freely as a hinge.

I'd contact the seller and see if they would ship you another one. If you leave it loose and fail the second one, then I'd say it's a faulty product....that's my $0.02.

There is 2 compress washers in between the nuts and the bracket it looks like the brackets were compressed and were not moving freely. I can move the seat on the hinge up and down but it does not move as freely as it should.

There should have been a spacer on the stud to prevent that.i`d say on the next one use a spacer, ditch the lock washers and use lock nuts and only tighten past the plastic on the lock nut(but not too tight). You should be able to grab that thing and lift it with one finger. If any thread left then top them with acorns.jmo.

What FF said or ditch the threaded rod and go to sex nut and bolt as pictured above, it would be a cleaner look and you could lock tight the bolt to keep it from backing out and it would act as a hinge pin.

Obvioulsy not the smartest thing I could have done, although I got lazy. I too have the black La Rosa and spent too much time deciding how high I wanted to spring the seat. Unfortunately I didnt end up doing anything and really liked the look of the seat not sprung at all. The profile of the tank running into the seat and then flowing into the shorty rear fender looked as bad ass as I wanted. Riding the bike all summer with only the front mount bolted down worked rather well and I had no issues with that mounting bracket. I ended up having to grind down the front of it a bit as it rubbed on the tank mount enough to sound like I was punching a chickadee in the beak repeatedly. It got annoying fast, warranting the fix. Still not sure what to do with springing the seat or mounting it solid appropriately.

Get some nylon washers, then you can tighten the end bolts down some and itll pivot better. Put the washers between the hinge pieces and them between the nuts and hinge. I did this on mine and it worked very well!!

Made new bracket and mounting hardware out of some scrap metal laying around. Looked at home depot, tractor supply, lowes could not find a barrel bolt or sex bolt. Ended up using a lock nut and gave a little room for some play.

I actually had to look up "Sex Nut" & "Sex Bolt"...

I wasn't sure if it was a typo or a joke... Oh, the things I learn on here...

FYI....I just called them about some springs. I asked them about a mounting bracket like the one you broke. They want $12 for the bracket plus $4 shipping.

The entire kit (2 brackets, 2 springs, & hardware) cost $30 (2 inch), and $33 (3 inch). I told them to keep the lot. I'll take my business elsewhere.

I was shocked!

piss poor customer service, fuck em.

I was looking at the biltwell solo seat hinge bracket they have on ebay.. they look nice. I may get it in Jan. when I get some more cash, till then my bracket seems to be holding up just fine.
