Well looking at options on lowering my Bike and Taking some measurments I've come to the realization that I can't use the Standard Bilski mod, Not if I want to use 11" shocks and an 1 1/2 lowering Kit, struts are out cause of the wife so I just wanted to run this by all of you Modders and see where you've put your side mounts Axle or Shock

Just a little more info, Here in wonderful Conneticut your side mount has to be Horizontal they gave my Bro a written warning for a Verticle mount

Most states require them to be horizontal. Susan's is vertical and mounted on the chain guard bolt. But she doesn't have a light on it either, so I guess this post is of absolutely no help to you.

For the life of me I can't remember where I got her sidemount from. It's just a flat piece of chrome plated steel with a mounting tab. She wanted to keep her billski for visibility reasons. I found a billet LED license plate light for sport bikes to illuminate the plate. They also made them in horizontal orientation.
If I can track it down I'll post the link for you. It was only about $30

I'm selling my side mount. It's the one in my gallery. Just the mount, not the light. Give me a hollar if you are interested.

hey Frank, I ran a small Drag Specialities LED cateye under the fender with the shock/lowering kit, 91/2 inch struts, and the hardtail without any probs. I went to an axle mounted one when I did the HD swap. The thick billet models don't have the vibration of the sheet metal ones. My .02.......here's an old pic Oh,BTW, I picked up a nice sidemount from Demon's Cycles on eBay for less than 120.00.

Thanx Mike, the pic you put up has exactily what I need, the Mini CatEye will do the trick with a good solid sidemount for the plate, I'm gonna do what one guy at work calls the old Drag and Trail, 3" biliski over extension with an 11" shock and 1 1/2 lowering Kit on the rear

we install most of the sidemounts to the shock with longer shock bolts. Its a lot easier than axle mount , and dont have to run into getting a longer axle wich might turn almost impossible unless you have one custom made on a machine shop.

I just bought this sidemount:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4633588527&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT

When comparing the opening on the side mount to the diameter of the lower shock bolt I don't see how it will stay on. The shock bolt's diameter is so much smaller. What's to stop the side mount from sliding down? Once I get the longer bolt am I just supposed to tighten the shit out of it?

Yes. Look at Menace's garage... he has a pic of it installed.
