Paint Schemes

Got a bike show coming up and need to repaint my tins in the next few weeks. I'm sticking with flat black, but trying to decide on if I want to add some graphics or stripping. Thinking of flat black and flat gun metal something like this helmet or some simple striping, but I haven't seen anything that just pops out and says THAT's IT. I like the flat black but it seems to be just over done so I want to add something to it. Anyone seen anything that stick out to them?

Yeah, it is. Looks like a tinted clear over gold leaf or something. I <3 metallic leaf on motorcycles.

I think that it may actually be a candy clear over the tank.

it's candy red over a sanded to metal tank, then clear, then masked and painted flat black and pin striped.

I have always wanted to do something like that to one of my cars

Ah, I see it now! The leaf looking finish is where it was sanded bare. That is bitchin!

I took the opportunity to "clean it up" a little bit. Not my best work. But, it's what 15 minutes taking a sanity-break at my office will get... :grin3:

Step 1 - "Fix" the tank:

Step 2 - Snag a copy of the logo:
I just grabbed what was close by from somebody's signature and I sought to clean it up a bit for this purpose. It's super low-rez. But, it should show the "design intent".

Step 3 - Apply the new graphic, shift it's perspective so it "bends" around the tank:

I think that could look slick, muted red though, not a bright red.

It shouldn't be a problem at all. I'm on mobile right now. I'll give it a look tonight. Also, if you know where there's a higher resolution version of the logo, that'd kick ass.

And, I've got CS5, but I still use GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program for ALMOST everything. )

It's open-sourxe, and the original platform was *nix. Because the Android kernel is so closely related to Linux, the port should be fairly straight forward. The issue I would foresee would be hardware limitations -- which are quickly disappearing as the devices get stupid-powerful.

If you'll let me know a bit about what you'd like regarding the scale, we can do anything you'd like. I chose a full side-panel only because after that's done all of the work is completed to move and scale it to anywhere else.

Haven't painted yet, got caught up on some other things...did the mirrors and had issues with the grips I bought. This is probably going to end up being a November or January project now.

No offense to AD, but if I'm going to get a professional to do it I will ship them to my cousin in OK...family deal may be better than SR.net brother deal. I wouldn't expect AD to do it for near nothing, but I could expect that from family.
