....seats. I get that numb butt thing on my 05 Aero stock seat about 45 minutes into a ride and my wife can't stand it anymore than 20 minutes on the rear either. :thumbsdow
Been lurking around and doing searches on seats and there seems to be a wide range of difference of opinions (of course!), but not in anyone thread that I can find. I've been to four differnet bike dealerships (3 Honda, one Yamaha) and none of them carry aftermarket seats in stock to even try them out. Next weekend is a bike show in Timonium, MD and I'm going lurking there.
Now for your turn, please throw your 2 cents in if you got an after market seat or just throw your 2 cents in! (No, I'm not asking for donations, I got a job!) The closer you are to 5'7" and 200 lbs, the more weight you opinion will carry! (How's that for a pun?) But the stock seat has to go!

We have mustangs. Either one is going to be a whole lot better than the stock seats. But even with the best seats your still gonna get numb after a while....just takes a lot of riding time to get that ass conditioned. Just ask Razor, his ass hasnt been the same since.

I've got a Corbin on mine and love it. The first 50 miles it's a little firm, but it does get real comfortable.
From what I've read and been told, if you want something comfortable for a really long haul, the Mustang seats are the seat of choice. I don't have any experience with them though. I'm happy with my corbin seat.

if you dont want to spend the money just get those gel pads for your seat till you build up your ass muscles to be able to handle it

Yea. Unlike Razor who rapidly adopted his butt muscles for PEGS, I am more resistant.

You sayin' I got no ass?!? You callin' me a numbass?!?:cry2:
Only did 4,500 miles last year and 2 rides over 5 hours. The numb ass wasn't bad until I got off the bike and tried to walk. Took a few minutes to get land legs back. My DW wants to ride but gets real bitchy after 30 minutes!
I do appreciate the humor and the sugestions. Thanks.

Dear Dr Bob's Numb Assless Patient
What makes you think we said you are a assless numb ass. There is only one in our forum that meets that description and his name starts with P and Ends in G. Actually he is schizoid so we put an S after the G.
You still need a lot more miles to get over it. My biggest problem aside from having a huge ass, was/is my tailbone. I broke it a few years back, and it took a lot of miles to work out that pain in the tail.

The mustang is the way to go for long rides. Bigger and more supportive. I usually hurt for the first 30 minutes or so (major back problems) then everything is fine once I settle in. I rode on the stock seat for a while and there is no comparison. Seat change is WELL worth the money!
I have a doctor that can put some needles in your ass and kill the nerves! Then you won't feel a thing!

The Mustang has won out. Now all I have to do is sell some junk on eBay to pay for it! Hopefully that will be before April or so.
Thanks for the, ah..... advice, er humor, I think.

We have a Mustang on our Valkyrie (second set) and are happy. Done 12+ hours in the saddle with no real complaints.
Another seat to look at - it's NOT pretty but you can ride on one all day without pain is the Russell Day Long. They have springs in the sides of the seat to support your thighs. Along the same price as the Mustang (depending on what style you buy...).
We had already bought our Mustang last summer prior to sitting on a Russell a buddy of ours from Seattle has...if had to do it again, we'd buy a Russell, ugly or not.
I'm seriously thinking about buying a solo Russell for my Aero when I'm ready for a new seat. So far the stock one isn't giving me any trouble.

WE have the Mustang wide regal seat and wide back rest. It sure beats the stock one on our 1996 shadow vt1100c (looks like spirit) nice back suport and not bad pading. When that ass starts getting tired its time to refuel anyway100 to 150 mile no problem. My wife and I ride two up alot and she sure likes it. Not like the big cotex stock passenger pad.

Oh, my ass has been sore before...600 mile days in 90* heat has a tendency to do that to you.
Not to say that I haven't had a swat or two on my hiney either...

Careful Wanda... got pegs over heating there... forget the 90 degree heat! One more comment about your bottom side and I'm afraid he'll blow.
